Hi!
I've got my lab results today. Kidney function is worse. Creatinin is higher, it is 600 now, so 100 up in 3 months. With that speed I will be on dialsys in the summer. But I'm so calm. Is that normal? Usually I would freak out:)

Your mind must be wrapping around the idea of dialysis. Say it out loud "I'm going to be on dialysis". If you don't bust into tears then you are doing well.
:yahoo;
We measure creatinine in the US different, so I don't know what your numbers mean.
-
No, that's not been my experience. I've been sobbing and unconsolable for days.
-
@Rerun: I think that creatinin is 6 in your units (our number divided by 100). The hardest part for me was 4 months ago, when my 5 years stable function deteriorated. With help of this forum and my therapist I faced with new situation.
And the thing that worried me most was how would any girl liked me when beeing on dialsysis (with fistula). But apparently they still like me. :yahoo;
I'm pushing my doctor to start transplant test. My mom is willing to give me a kidney. Keep fingers crossed :)!

P.S.: Do you have any idea how much phosphate does soya beans have?
-
No idea how much Phos soya beans have , but i take it your a veggie? I got the ok from my dietician to use soya and quorn , so it cant be that bad !
-
Sounds like you are past the denial stage and onto acceptance. That's a good thing. Nothing wrong with being calm - besides, you are free to freak out later if you still want to!
Check the diet and recipe section on here. There's a link to a usda nutrition website on there that lists all the mineral contents of just about every food. The only thing completely off limits is starfruit, but everything else can be enjoyed in moderation, even the stuff with high phos levels.

If your creatinine is that high you shouldn't have to 'push' you doctor too hard, I hope. My doctor got me in for testing when I hit about 3.5 or 4. Absolutely good luck! I hope they accept your Mother as your donor and everything goes great! :beer1;

I was the same way and I didn't even get warning! I figured heck have to do this for the rest of my life might as well not complain, but of course like all of us, I have my days/moments..
Good luck

Hi, i'm sorry to hear that. My partner Mike was sitting at around 1400 when he first started dialysis, and slowly his creatinine went down to about 700 [ On manual bag changes ]
but when he started on the night machine his creatinine crept back up to over 1400! It was a shock to say the least. However, he was dry during the day. They decided to make him wet during the day with one extra bag change. He's due a blood test today. We will soon find out if its made any affect on his creatinine level!

Some people are worriers. You, sullidog and I are not and I'm sure we are the better for it.
I knew a bloke who got a heart attack around the same time as I did, in 2005. It really worried him and he took every precaution to reduce stress, took his meds like a good boy etc. Me? I was a bit cavalier, but that's my nature.
He doesn't worry anymore. He's dead.

This post could easily go in the "What NOT to say or do at your Transplant Evaluation'. :rofl;

Gee, I was actually looking forward to dialysis, because I felt so sick. I knew it was from toxins that were poisoning me, and I wanted to get those toxins out of my body ASAP.

Another cycle of lab results are back. BUN and creatinin level are the same as in February :bandance; I do have a little higher level of phosphor. I really have no idea why. I don't eat any milk or milk product and fish. I take binders.....so.....what about beae? I do drink now and then beer.
I also put pressure on my neph to start kidney transplant activities. No success yet :Kit n Stik;
Feeling fine, dancing alot, salsa and bachata. I nearly become professional :shy;
You can see how bachata looks here

Isn't it awful waiting for the next round of lab results to come in? I would get so horribly nervous that my neph prescribe anti-anxiety meds for me to take just during that week between having blood drawn and getting the results. I've been doing that for six years now and it has never gotten any easier. I am glad to hear that you are still holding on. Any day avoiding D is a good day. I'm experiencing the same type thing you are....stable for a long time and then POW...GFR dips below 20. But now I am going all the tests required to get on the transplant list, and I hope your neph will put you on the same path. Keep us posted, OK? When is your next set of labs?
