Chicago boy on dialysis cheated out of go-cartAssociated Press - September 4, 2008 3:04 PM ET
PHOENIX (AP) - An Arizona man has been accused of cheating a Chicago boy on dialysis out of a go-cart.
Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Thursday the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Chicago chapter gave $11,000 to 53-year-old Douglas Riesberg of Spring Valley in March for a custom go-cart for the boy.
The go-cart was expected to be finished in three weeks, but D'Evelyn says Make-A-Wish never heard back from Riesberg until a foundation lawyer found him in June.
D'Evelyn says Riesberg told the foundation the cart would be done in July.
The foundation asked the sheriff's office for help last month when the go-cart still hadn't been delivered.
Riesberg is jailed on fraud and theft charges. D'Evelyn says he is unsure if he has a lawyer.
