Me and the boys

« on: August 30, 2008, 12:54:47 PM »

Hi question ..I have for about 5 days now been feeling like someone is strangling me..My b/p has been normal to low since I thought maybe that was the issue.. I have also been retaining fluid but not alot. This is first time I have retained and it started after treatment last Fri when I went in I weighed myself then when I went to leave I weighed myself and gained..Then that weekend I continued to gain and have ever since. I believe this is same time I have been having this feeling..Almost like I have a tight shirt with collar on.. I also have the permacath and also thinking maybe that is doing something..
Anyone have this experience and/or know what it could be..I really cant take this my head feels like it is going to explode..
thanks

7piglets, you shouldn't mess around if you are feeling like it is hard to breathe. What did they tell you at dialysis when you weighed more at the end of treatment then you did starting. Maybe you need to do some back to back treatments to get the fluid off. Now I'm worried about you. Please get checked out and let us know.  :cuddle;

I agree, get checked out right away. You could have fluid collecting in your chest or neck or around your heart.
The permacath can be in the wrong spot too. Please let us know how you are.

As with the fluid gain after treatment..I asked them then and there and was told I probably weighed myself wrong. I told them that is pretty much impossible since all I do is stand on a scale and it gives me a reading..Then she said well we did give you fluids for the b/p (they usually give me extra fluid because my blood pressue always drops after treatment) and she said the alarm kept going off on the machine so it might not been taking out correctly..
As for the breathing thing it is not fluid with lungs because I just went first of week to my dr to get lungs checked ( I have to have them checked every few months for cancer ) and xray showed clear..It is not in my chest it is a feeling like when you have high b/p just a heavyness in head..or like something is just wrapped around my neck

Please call your doctor's office.  You shouldn't be feeling this way.   :grouphug;

You need to be in ER NOW.  If you feel something is off you need to push for help.  Tell them you want labs done...they always have Drs on call or in center and can get immediate orders.  This is not something to wait until Monday for especiallly with Monday being Labor Day.  I can't believe the nurses let you go home feeling like you are.

It is possible it might be fluid , i dont know about anyone else but if im coughing alot (like i am atm) i get fluid gathering on my neck , also if i vomit then my neck actually swells up with fluid very visably. But those are my reasons my neck goes tight !

Kickstart that is actually best way of describing..my neck is tight..
I went to dialysis on Mon and I brought it up again and they really said they dont know what it could be..
I also went to primary dr ..he said it could be fluid but I told him I was back to normal when I went in on mon and even after they remove fluid I still have it.I mentioned the ear thing and he checked and I have slight ear infection and my when he checked said my lymph node on neck is swollen so that could be cause..Today I felt it in am but as of right now I dont have it (and hope it stays that way..)
