Anybody else have nerve pain in their legs. I guess it is called Nuerapathy (not sure of the spelling) My Doc gave me Gabapentin 300mg to deal with it but, I was up all last nite getting shooting pains every 30 seconds or so and it is still going on this morning sometimes you just want to scream it is so sharp. I took two vicodeine and one gabapentin and I am still feeling them, though I got a good buzz. Any suggestions...Boxman

Even after my transplant, I still get them, just not as severe and as often. How have your blood sugars been through this/ I would check and document this for the doctor the next time it occurs or if it is still occurring. I was never given meds for my neuropathy, never knew there was one for it either, never saw it mentioned in diabetic magazines with articles about people dealing with it. Mine are sharp electrical shock pains, not the tingling kind. Also when it occurred, how where you resting, sitting or laying in bed? Note that to doc to along with blood sugar readings. Never had them last through the night  that I can remember, so it is something the doc should be made aware of.There is a nerve test that may need to be done, forgot the name and abbreviation, but it involves being poked by a rod to test nerves. It can be painful, I had a diabetic friend go thru this and she didn't like it.

Call doc on Monday to make them aware.
Good Luck

I have the same problems Boxman, I have been recently given effexor which is actually a antidepressant but it is supposed to take the pain away. So far it has helped initially but some of the pain is returning. Lyrica didn't do much and the gabapentin helped some 300mg x3 per day but makes you tired. I think you just have to keep trying different meds until you find one that works.

I believe my mother is experiencing the same thing. She was given pain meds and told to watch her diet, but her blood sugar readings are all good (much better than mine!) Is the only treatment pain meds or is there a resolution to this problem?

Thanks for all your input. This is a very commen problem that seems to me no one has figured out how to treat it. You hate to be drugged up all the time but nothing really seems to work...Mark

I don't have the pain in my legs, but in my arms, from the elbow to the hands. They are so intense, it wakes me during the night. The Nurse gave me some Gabapentin, but it doesn't seem to help much. If someone finds anything that helps, let me know as I haven't had a good nights sleep for a long time now. BTW, I am diabetic, but blood sugars are great 90 - 100
