As we all know, dialysis is a very painful process that causes nausea, cramping and vomiting. So, do you?

it helps a lot of people on chemo with both the vomitting and lack of appetite. BUT if you want a transplant- they don't care what your reason is...its a No-No.

Of course after transplant its too risky,  Aspergillosis.

If I could I probably would, if I needed it for medical purposes.  Puff puff puff!

I used it when having chemo for appetite and got it from an illegal source (shhhhh, don't tell).
I don't really like it's affect on me though, so I don't use it. I didn't know its use could
hinder chances for a transplant till I read about it here and that is just one more reason not to use it.
But I can understand why someone would use it and am a proponent of legalizing it.

yes, I use a type of mary jane but it comes in a pill that the insurance co pays for this way it does not harm your lungs. just make sure your groceries are bought before you take your pill otherwise you may be stopped for dwi. hope you feel better.

One of my young dialysis mates smokes it for nausea. He says it works much better than phenergan.

Have in the past.  It helps with the appetite, blood pressure, insomnia, and gereral anxiety.   But it does tend to effect how your blood clots (gave me more of them) and also there is the whole "list" thing.  If you're on the list I would reccomend the legal approach first...depending on where you live medical marijuana may or may not be legal.  (It actually is in 13 states)  But again, even then it may conflict with the rules of your transplant program.  If you're not on the list then I would say do whatever makes you feel best.

I've seen Veterans at certain VA Hospitals smoke it before going on the machine. What surprised me was how the staff KNEW they were doing it and simply continued their treatment. I've been tempted, but I never would. I'm too chicken. Besides, a good dose of Benadryl in my lines usually puts me to sleep.

yup. i find it helps with a number of issues that would take several prescription medications to cover.
it doesn't get rid of pain, but it sure helps put it in 'another room'-so to speak. ;)
also, it eases nausea, improves my appetite, helps me get to sleep and also relaxes me, often bringing my blood pressure down to a more 'normal' rate. as for it being illegal, all that does is subsidise and continue the efforts of organized crime. its not an issue for a transplant, here in canada.
the only reason its illegal is because the governments can't figure out a way to tax it.

Just grow it and package it like cigarettes.  The sure have no problem taxing those.  In other countries where it is legal Marlboro actually has a marijuana cigarette on the market called True Blues I believe it is.

It must work. I don't remember any pain from the 1960's. As a matter of fact, I don't even remember the 1960's.

I'm a sceptic, I have been on dialysis but never had the need to puff or chase the dragon. I suppose any excuse will do. If it really does help then tablet form should be taken.
