Sugar, isn't this weather ridiculous?  The sun actually came out earlier.  Then it went away again. Humpf.

Is it near you, galvo?  Australia is so vast I'm always under the illusion that nobody I know can be affected by smokey-stuff I see on the news.

No, pops. The fires are in a semi-circle around Sydney, particularly in the Blue Mountains that form the end of the Sydney basin. Sugarlump, my dear, you are correct about New South Wales being the State of the Commonwealth where it is occurring. To-day is bad because of the winds that are reaching 90 kms. These spread embers and cause spot fires behind the firefront; a bad situation for the firies. News just in that there is a fire out of control near Grafton in the north of the State.

Pops, I am some 200 ks from the main Sydney fires. There is another closer near Bargo about 100 ks away. Even at these distances, the fires are so fierce, the smoke is reaching here. It's nowhere near as dramatic as 10 years ago, when terrible fires struck the national capital, Canberra, and destroyed over 600 homes. The sky was darker than the darkest night! That was not a pleasant time!

I've just reposted a photo on facey of some 50 South Australian fire trucks heading to the firefront. It just shows how people all over Oz are responding, both professional firies and the volunteers of the Rural Fire Service, bloody heroes all of them! Many tales of ordinary people doing extraordinary things!

I had such a great time this weekend! Got to see Vincent Ingala at the Montrose Room in Chicago! Not only did I get to meet him, but I got to meet and talk to his parents! Great people and VERY proud of their son!   :clap;

The storm (in the UK) has blown over my favourite lightening tree (You would have to have watched the programme Follyfoot to understand this reference!)
Lightening trees (trees that have been struck by lightening) and still upright are considered lucky and if you touch the bark (or hug it) you may make a wish.
I have made hundreds of wishes at this tree behind my house, some even came true! How sad....

Trying to get back to normal, but hitting some snags. Learned walking 6 miles was a mistake.

Had a very nice day yesterday. Took a bus trip up to Chicago. I actually pushed my husband in a wheelchair all day! But we did the "Magnificent Mile"! Bought a couple of things for us for Christmas. Nice way to go to the city. No worries about traffic or parking!

Darn CebuShan, if that was today we could have met up for coffee along the Mag Mile. Today was more drug changes, CT Scan of ankles and for some reason McDondald's Charged me was less than what I ordered! I should have ordered the apple pies after all!  :banghead;  Duho!

I haven't been to Morris in a few years. I visited the dialysis clinic there and then for vet tech course to a farm to work on farm animals. Both off Route 47.
