So, do you think the cabin will be good for when you are on dialysis?

  Oh yes.....   the elevation was 7300 ft...  all electric  log A-frame Cabin....  about 300 ft from the lake with great hiking to other lakes in the area....  and best of all great fishing and rock collecting.....  Almost all granite up there....  upper alpine meadows and trees....    I will come back when I start D and its only 35 miles to a hospital......   which is down in the valley......     I plan on RV too when I go to D..... but  this log cabin  was built in 1933 and was very rustic......  Very nice....

A cabin does sound relaxing as long as I am at one with indoor plumbing, no risk of ticks or any other insect carrying bacteria or viruses, bears, and so on and so on  :urcrazy; ;D

I sort of had a tent once as a kid, but made out of blankets and saw horses in th backyard. Wouldn't do that again.

I used to camp at least 10 times a year.  We have cut it down to 4-5 now.  My last 3 summer vacations with the kids we camped as opposed to getting a hotel.  All of my kids know how to set up camp.  California has many  great camping spots.  I have camped from San Diego to Mt Shasta and from the ocean out to the desert by the Colorado river, Sequoia Nat'l forest, Big Sur...

Marc,
The CA camping sounds just lovely. Part of my blue funk is over the loss of camping opportunities due to our horrendous schedule this year. Our next chance will be Thanksgiving weekend! Ugh. It is hard to see our camper waiting so patiently for a weekend adventure and no time to use it. Our last trip was July 4 weekend. Sigh.

I was feeling so down last night, I just got in the pool and cried.  :'(

It's hard on Carl when I am down, so I try hard to stay positive. It just doesn't always work! I can usually bury myself in work to "forget" about being depressed, but it breaks out at times. Now is one of those times....

So much for sad talk. When is the next party??

You know what?  ESRD sucks.  It takes a toll on everyone.  Maybe it is healthy to have a good cry now and then.  Afterward think about all we are thankful for.  You have Carl.  It sounds like he is a lucky guy to have you.  You always have us here at IHD who care about you.  Sometimes we even crack a silly joke and make us laugh in spite of our current mood.

Camping not big in this area, you either have to go down state, towards Missouri, or Wisconsin for camp sites. I didn't stay in Boy Scouts, couldn't stand it, seemed lame. So sports was the choice of activities along with building go karts and running them out on the country roads that were not paved racing friends. Gotta love small town places when growing up  :2thumbsup;

I guess I'm a city boy  ;D :rofl;

I completely agree with this, Marc! I also favor a good scream, but that is harder to do without irritating those around me.

I am glad that you are starting to feel your spirits lift, Aleta. I think I can relate to your feelings about camping. I feel the same way about international travel. I have not been out of this country for - I cannot remember - I am going to guess 4 years. We simply do not have the money with this huge expense looming, and me not working, and my husband's income forever in limbo.

I hope you get to camp over Thanksgiving!

I love tent camping.  Growing up, we camped from Vermont to California. Of course, I must add that my Mother designed camps and was a big name in decentralized camping (no cabins, living out in the woods) back in "the day".  I love the smell of a tent, rain on the tent roof, everything about it.  As a kid, we were camping at the Grand Canyon and I remember a deer sticking his head in the front flap. Dad told us to just be real still.  My husband and I camped in Vancover when the Worlds Fair was there.  And we have camped at a beach campsite in Hawaii. We were the only "non locals" camping and it was so much fun!   Did I say how much I love camping??    :rofl;

I am in the same mood as Kitkatz -- tired and grumpy.  Beth just told me I was REALLY grumpy!!

I win, for the moment.

Camping by the ocean I could deal with, jump right into the ocean and go swimming! :2thumbsup; And beaches 9atleast the ones here in Chicago) have indoor facilities and showers.

Oh, dear. Did I infect everyone with Grumpy?

So sorry if I did. The pool was lovely tonight, with sun the past few days, the temperature has eked up to 87, but my swim was cut short by an alarm during dialysis. Carl moved his arm and caused a pressure alert.

I told him that I "saved his life"  by turning off that alarm and starting the machine again (while dripping all over the carpet)!  :clap; :rofl; :clap; :rofl;

I'm laughing again. I sure dislike those fights with depression! Ugh!

Paris, our camper has two "tent" ends where the beds are. I love nothing better than having it rain at night and listening to the sound of it on the canvas. mmmm. I'm feeling restful just thinking about it.  :2thumbsup;

Chris, last Spring break we took our dialysis machine to Florida and camped a short walk from the ocean. It was a lovely week.  :yahoo;

The only problem with camping on the beach: sand in everything.  There is just no way around it.  There is a great campground in Malibu where you camp across the street from the beach up on a bluff.

   The one nice thing about camping at the beach with all the sand   is   when you have been in the woods and have too many bugs bites    when you go to the ocean   that salt water will heal them right up
