I know you are all busy people but can I please ask for your thoughts/prayers for tomorrow (Tuesday).  My Dad has an appointment with a vascular surgeon, as well as being on dialysis he has PAD and has had a fem-dis bypass of his right leg (last June). Sadly that bypass has blocked - his vascular system is in a bad way, he can't have a fistula for that reason.  Anyway he's off tomorrow to see what the surgeon thinks, before the op in June an amputation was mentioned, please pray (or send positive thoughts or whatever is your personal choice) that a less invasive alternative will be offered. At nearly 80 he really doesn't want to have to face amputation.

Thank you all very much  :grouphug; Rose xx

Dear Rose, I will keep both you and your Dad in my prayers.  I hope the doctors find a good solution for him and that doesn't include amputation.  Hope you can feel our love and support :grouphug; :grouphug;

Oh my Rose, what a bad situation.  Do you think perhaps they could put a stent in to hold it open?
I have PAD too and am going to have to have both of my legs done soon.  Prayers are going up for your
Dad.  Let us know what the Dr. says.

Love, Mimi

Sending good thoughts your way.
My dad is 82 and in precarious health, so I know how worried you must be.
Hopefully all goes well for him.

Oh THANK YOU all so much, just checking in before we go to the hospital, it's a 2 hour journey so we will be leaving soon.  I'm overwhelmed by the number of you who have taken the trouble to reply and offer your support.  I can't tell you how much it means to me, I'm scared and worried but this helps so much.  I will post this afternoon and let you know how we get on. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart xx  :grouphug;

Thank you all for your kind words.  I am just back home and wanted to update you.  Things went OK at the hospital, they are going to leave things as they are 'for now' and just keep an eye on his legs  - hoping they will not start to cause too much pain again - so fingers crossed.  The surgeon says to keep a close eye on his feet, although he isn't diabetic but his circulation is so poor than any ulcers etc are unlikely to heal well.

The bypass is blocked in too many places for stents (I think you call them stints?) and because it has blocked so soon (within 6 months of the op) there is no chance of having another op at this stage. If he gets in a lot of pain they may coonsider it to try to avoid amputation but as they have already used his vein it would mean a synthetic graft which apparently doesn't work as well so that is probably not really an option.  I just hope and pray that Dad will remain as he is now and then neither option becomes necessary. It's hard enough for him to cope with the dialysis and constant tiredness without operations etc.

I really thank you all for all the kindness you have shown  :thx; - it means such a lot, I hope I can give you my love and support in return when you are in need.  :grouphug; Rose xx

Rose, I'm going to take this as good news and prayers answered.  Thank you for up-dating us -- I was worried about you and Dad this morning!  If we can keep the positive thoughts and prayers coming your way, maybe it will hold the other at bay!

Rose I've only just seen this thread. My thoughts and good wishes are sent to you and your Dad. What a thing to have to worry about at 80 years old. He sounds like a very brave man and he must be proud of having such a loving daughter. I do hope that amputation can be avoided indefinately. :grouphug;

Thanks for letting us know Rose.  I hope neither of the options come to pass either.  People can only stand
so much.  And your Dad has had enough. You'll both be in my heart and prayers.

Thanks again everyone.  If you could keep Dad in your thoughts and prayers I'm sure it will help - his name is Bill.  Thank you all  :thx; Rose  :grouphug;
