I'm 205!!!

We had dinner last night with several other couples, and somehow it came up in conversation about all the transplants I've had, and my husband wanted me to figure out how old all my kidneys were, combined. We only counted my native kidneys as one, then took the actual age of each of my others (i.e. I received one from my dad 6 years ago when he was 65, but we called that one 71, since the kidney is that old now). Obviously this only works if you know the age of your cadaveric donor.

So, I added 34 (native) + 66 (Mom) + 71 (Dad) + 34 (most recent, list) = 205.

How old are you?

Katie, Len is 99. He looks pretty good for his age, if I do say so myself.

Did you find out the age of your donor Katie? Were they the same age as you? (seeing you used 34)

Okay, let's see if I can figure this out right.  Marvin is 52 now --  when he got his transplant, I was 37 (and so was the kidney I gave him).  So, I'll add 52 and 37 together to get 89.  Is this how old Marvin is?  He doesn't look it, but some days, I sure feel 89.

Petey, you've got to use your current age, as well, since that's how old the kidney is, even if it's no longer working. ;)

Yes, they told me the day of the transplant that the donor was only a year older than me. He (or she?) was 34. I used 34 for my own age as well, seeing as I'll be that in just a few days.  :-\

Marvin just got older (I figured it wrong the first time)...

Okay, he was 44 when he got his transplant.  I was 37 (and so was the kidney that I gave).  Marvin's now 52.

So, 44+37+52  = makes Marvin 133.

Again, he doesn't look it, but I often FEEL it!

I'm 42 and my kidneys will turn 3 in June. That makes me 45. My kidneys are almost out of the terrible twos.

My original kidneys are 60 years old and my donor kidney is now 54.  So that makes me 114 in KT0930 years.

Lets see if I can do this math:

My kidneys are 54, my live donor was 25 at the time of the transplant (last Sept.) so I think I'm 79.   :)

Doc says I'm going to live forever having such a young kidney.   :2thumbsup;

I think I misunderstood the original post.

I'm 33 years old, and my dad is 59 (my donor) so that = 92!

OK, So at the time of the transplant, the donor was 23 and I was 29. So adding 7 years to each of us would be 30 and 36 for a total of 66. And on somedays I feel that old  :rofl;
