Good Morning, I Googled *dialysis forum* and found IHD--what a great website!  :2thumbsup;
My Dad is 85 and has been on dialysis for 4 years now 3x a week.  Hypertension was the culprit  :(  He's pretty hard to keep down but is slowing down a bit.
I'm just enjoying reading on various forums here and gathering information--thank everyone! :thx;
I live 45 minutes from Dad.  We're talking about him moving into an assisted living home.
I'm married and am 56 years old.
I have some questions for you all so thanks in advance for your help and advice!   :waving;

Welcome the the site.  As a caregiver you see the different things that happen to the patient as they go through dialysis. Be sure to ask questions and know what is going on with his treatments. Good luck.

Hello and  :welcomesign;

I think the fact that you are offering such dedicated support to your dad is wonderful  :thumbup; . IHD is a wonderful place to learn about ESRD and all related issues.

Have fun!

Hi Scout,

I'm in the same boat as you.  My father is 85 and has been on dialysis for about a year and a half now.  Not sure what caused his kidney failure, but in addion to that, he's been through a quadruple bypass, prostate cancer and Lyme Disease! Enough, already :))

Welcome to our community!  We are so glad that your love for your father brought you here.  We are the same age group.  11 years ago I had to watch my father die of kidney failure at 89 because, in my country, they decide that dialysis is not for elderly people.  I still feel robbed, because my father was an alert person who still had things he wanted to say in my country (he was an educator and a minister of the gospel).
This is a lovely website and it will help you to understand a lot of what your father is going through.  We are now also a family, so we welcome you with open arms. :grouphug;  Keep reading and keep posting.  We need to know how your father is doing.
