Well they got me again.  I just got notified my insurance(cobra) will expire at the end of the month and Davita has had me withdraw from medicare so they could get more money out of my insurance.  "somebody" told the insurance co. that I had medicare so medicare would become my primary insurance.  Looks like they forgot to file for the extension like they were suposed to after the first year. Now I will lose my only insurance,  my former employer has sent the premium payments for this year back to the american kidney fund, davita is billing me four thousand for the already paid deductable from last year.......anybody know about indegent health care for dialysis patients?  I think I'm up a cteek and Davita ate my paddle

You MUST notify the SW, FA and the GSS at the clinic to do something.  They screwed up by having you apply for Medicare after you had COBRA.  If a patient becomes eligible for Medicare after they have a COBRA  policy the COBRA policy can cancel.  The SW and GSS know that or should know that.  If you still have until the end of the month can perhaps still do something...the GSS may still be able to appeal this.   Someone will be answering for this mess.  Unfortunately you are suffering.

If nothing can be done then the very least they can do is have AKF pay for your Medicare premium...make sure it is not deducted from any SS benefits you may be getting and then they need to also get you a Medigap insurance that AKF will pay for.  You are eligible for both.  Don't let them tell you otherwise.  Good luck and don't let up on them.

Don't know anything about COBRA insurance, so I'm afraid I can't help, GG.  However, I can sympathize with you because I've been up the creek with DaVita before, and they ate my Marvin's paddle, too!  In fact, the buzzards poked a hole in his boat, too.  DaVita sucks!  But, DaVita also hates it when you fight them -- so, I say, fight, fight, fight!  :boxing;

Welcome to the site and good luck with the insurance mess. It is hard when people whoa re supposed to help you, let go of the ball and leave you out on a limb.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.
