My niece and I want to share in the caregiver capacity since this will be 6 on and 1 off, she is young and works in the medical field but I don't want to burden her with the sole responsibility of caring for my dad. She lives closer and goes by the house every day going to work, however I don't live that far either. How would you as a patient feel about this arrangement? Is it even feasible? My mom and dad doing this together is somewhat out of the question plus I'm really not comfortable with that idea anyway. The neph and the center dosen't seem to have a problem with this either, but I am more concerned about what someone that  has to go thru this everyday has to say about this.

i  don't  think  there's  much  of  a  drama  having  2  caregivers.
only  my  thoughts,think  about  how  its  all  to  be  done,so  your  not  tripping  over  each  others  feet.
your  days  will  be  come longer  if  you  work+  caregiver+your own  life.
consider  all  aspects  of  how  it  will  work,or  something  will  give  eventually.
good  luck  with  it  all,thanks  for  being  a  care giver :clap; :2thumbsup;

I think it's a great idea - no one ever has to be tied to the responsibility.  A back-up caregiver would help immensely.

I wish I had more than one. I know my wife gets burned out and so I try to do everything and that’s not good either. I feel guilty when she is the only one I can rely on.  From one patient, please share the responsibility.

Yes, please share...if I had that I would still be on NxStage.  I wish more families were like yours.

You know I think its awesome with two cargivers. And what it really comes down to is what is right for your family.  Let us know what you guys decide.

I think two is a wonderful idea- you get two sets of eyes helping someone, plus no single caregiver gets overwhelmed.  :flower;

As a single caregiver, I think this would be a fabulous idea! Folks here know how distressed I was when I had to go out of town for a few days and my husband had to go back in-center for treatments. With a care-giving partner, this would not have been necessary. You are fortunate to be in the position to do this! Go for it!

I think it's a great idea too.  I think you're lucky to have more than one person in your family that is willing to take on the responsibility.  Good luck & I'm sure it will work out fine
