you know, i have been thinking about this all day- I wish i knew more what it is/was... I am very curious, they operated so fast it must have been very grave... I hope goofy is okay...how frightening this must have been for her, I am so glad she went to the DR.

Metastatic Calcification. Calcium deposits are found in the kidney, stomach, lung, brain, eyes, skin, subcutaneous and periarticular (surrounding a joint) tissues, and arterial walls. This type of calcinosis is usually related to other underlying conditions, such as hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism or renal disease. Tumoral calcinosis is included in this category because of its frequent elevation in serum phosphorus levels and occasional increase in serum calcium values. However, it is separated from other forms of metastatic calcification because there are no internal organs involved. This condition is characterized by the rapid development of large, multi-lobulated, calcific masses in the subcutaneous (under the skin) tissue and muscles surrounding the hips, shoulders, elbows, hands, and chest walls.
Treatment of metastatic calcification at present consists mainly of early surgical excision of the calcified masses, which rarely recur at the same site.

I love you and you are in my prayers.

Now that they are gone you too can crawl under tables!!

Susie,

I know that you've shed many tears over all of this.  Tears of fear, frustration and pain.  And, knowing you, when you get to reading all of these posts - you'll be shedding tears again.  Pages and pages of people writing to let you know how much they care about you.  Susie, you bring so much love and joy to all of us, and now it is our turn to give some back to you.

Speedy recovery my friend, and I hope that this is the longest "get well" thread in IHD history.  What a great way to get to 100,000!

Love,

Anna

I spoke to Goofynina's mom and she said she is probably coming home tomorrow. They are taking her off the morphine pump today and starting pain pills today. She isn't eating much but that's partly because the meds make her sleepy. There will be a visiting nurse coming to her home to manage the wound vac. She misses her cat so that's why she wants to go home so badly! I told her to let Susie know we are all thinking of her and miss her. If you want to mail her a card to her house please send me a Personal Message.
