You can sit watch an entire Kevin Costner movie without getting up to go to the bathroom !
Hello All . My name is Kevin , I use Katonsdad because I am . My son is Katon . He is the joy of my life .

I was on Dialysis for 3 1/2 years before being transplanted with a Kidney and a pancreas in August 1999 .
During my treatment phase I was on PD , manual exchange and a nightly machine change . I ended up on Hemo .
I have good stories and bad stories about these times . including treatments , surgeries , and medical staff .

I have experienced traveling on CAPD and Hemo .
I have worked while on both types of treatments .
I have experienced the transplant lifestyle . from testing thru the actual transplant and the rejection
that follows .
I was a diabetic at 13 years old and transplanted at 37 yrs old and I am now 45 .   I now live in Richmond Va
but had the transplant done in LA , Ca,   So I have also experienced the looking for a new doctor post transplant.

Some of my experiences are a few years old . but some experiences with Kidney failure continue to be the same .

My wife found this website while looking for a recipe and I am hoping my experiences may help someone .

I love humor , That helped me the most during everything I went thru  . You need to laugh a little .

And remember when you take a car trip , you driver . tell the passengers you will stop for a potty break when you have to
go to the bathroom !

 :waving; Hi Katonsdad!
Glad you could join us. I am guessing that when you mention rejection that you got thru it and still have the kidney and pancreas? Maybe I just had too much turkey so forgive me if the answer is obvious. It sounds like you have plenty to share and your sense of humor will be greatly appreciated.
Welcome!

Oh and I forgot ........

My wife found a recipe for 7up Jello with applesauce that was eaten all up by the partygoers ...

And to answer an earlier question , yes I recovered from the rejection . and all organs were saved .

Thanks y'all for all the great welcomes .

I have been posting in as many forums that I can to get some of my experiences out .
I am also learning a great deal .  This site is like walking into a Dialysis center and talking to
all the patients .
I hope to continue benefitting from every ones experiences , There are so many of them.
