Howdy all,

this is Gus here, been on dialysis since 1978 and had a transplant in 1979 which I lost in 1982......ever since its only been dialysis, that's all.

I did give it a shot at home dialysis in the late 1980s but didn't workout well, was just too complicated to maintain. In 2004 I went back home to do dialysis but now with a Nxstage machine. What can I say, am so happy!

If you have any questions about going home and doing dialysis please fell free to contact  me. I am also on AIM or MSN........

Cheers!

Welcome to the site Gus.  I too tried home hemo back in the 80's and it was just too much of a reminder at home that I was sick.  I don't like in clinic either, but maybe when Nxstage gets more common I'll look into it.  Come here to help us out on various topics.

Welcome Gus!  If you feel like posting your NxStage story on the board, that would be great.  There is a section for Home Dialysis.

 :o :o :o

Whoa, I'm surprised you decided to start posting here. I remember months ago when I mentioned this site to you and the others at homedialysis.org, a lot of people gave me crap for thinking the site is too negative because of the name. So seriously what made you start posting here now finally, after joining months ago?

But anyway, welcome to the site. As you can see it is growing VERY fast. I myself have my home dialysis area all ready, in fact the social worker is coming out tomorrow to inspect my place. So I am closer than ever now.  :)

Welcome!  I was saying to myself that your face looked familiar.  Glad to have you with us.  I don't know when we will ever have access to Nx Stage in the Caribbean, but I can dream, can't I?

Hahaha, my avatar. That's Tuco from the famous spaghetti western movie "Good Bad Ugly" starring Clint Eastwood........am a big fan of spaghetti westerns that I even coordinate a game development project baseds on that. If interested you can visit the project website at http://wantedmod.planethalflife.gamespy.com/saloon/

Yes, you can dream. NxStage is new over here and just started a little over 2 years so its a matter of time till it reaches the other end of the world. Aside from that am sure other companies will start making small dialysis machines. Aksys is already in design process of their new portable dialysis machine.

EPOMAN@ Homedialysis.org is kinda strict over there, picky you know. In their case the board is nothing more than dealing with homedialysis topics and spam is not allowed. That's their wishes so hehe......you just abide by their rules.

On the other hand, ihatedialysis.com and the logo does give the wrong impression, no doubt about...its the same as a "No Smoking" sign, ..."No Parking" sign and so on. In this case we're talking about people's lives here so it gives newcomers of dialysis the impression that not doing dialysis is the answer, kinda like commiting suicide, get it? Its visual communications here.

However, there's good posts here, good social gathering here, and of course boards with different topics and that's cool, something other dialysis boards don't have. Best of all its from dialysis patients for dialysis patients, but the logo and site name is inconsistent  with what you want to achieve here.

But am here to support you and those who do dialysis just like I do.......Congrats on going home soon!  8)
