I know green is the color for transplant and donate life, but does kidney disease itself have a color? If not we should start one and get ribbons.

I believe that the color green represents both kidney disease and transplant.

I do not think that it represents kidney disease by itself, since transplant can cover so many other organs.  I say we need a color for us.  If I am to be on dialysis the rest of my life I want a ribbon that represents only kidney disease and dialysis. There are enough of us to get it done if we pick a color.

Isn't red the color used by the schools for their anti-drug campaigns?
I see red ribbons tied to the fences around the schools.

I think green is the color of these free bracelets: http://www.aakp.org/press/press-releases/2005/AAKP-and-Genzyme/ and these blue ones are free here: http://www.davita.com/498

Here are awareness ribbons colors - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awareness_ribbons - Kidney disease isn't mentioned, only organ transplantation

Okay so kidney disease does not have a ribbon color yet.  Maybe a brown ribbon, since it would go with the green ribbon for organ donation.  We intertwine the two for organ donation/kidney disease.

There are different colors for cancer awareness too. Each cancer is a different color. If I find where I read it I will post.

http://www.craftsnscraps.com/jewelry/ribbons.html

The combo of brown and green hasn't been used.

Brown ribbons have also been proposed by comedian George Carlin as a cynical response to the preponderance of other ribbons as symbols of political or social movements. The color is meant to imply "Eat shit, mother***er!"

Red ribbon is aid/hiv awareness. There campaigns are all based on red ribbon events.  Purple is prostrate cancer.    I have a blue bracelet with Kidney Health printed on it from some web site.  Guess I will just continue to wear my green ribbon pins.

I'm all for that.

But in the interest of harmony, why not make it yellow and black, for "Non Urinator"

Multi-color ribbons remind me of those cheap ribbons they gave you when you won a baking contest or something like that when you a child!
