Father kills his daughter's kidney donor

16 October 2007
BBC NEWS

A vicious murder last night has left police and locals in western Serbia guessing.

Serbian police (MUP) in Šabac are trying to work out a motive in the murder of Dragoslav Tešić, stabbed to death around 10 p.m. last night in a village near Loznica, in the street in front of his house.

The suspect in the case, identified as Mileko B., is the father of a 14-year girl who last year received a kidney transplant from the victim, Dragoslav Tešić.

Reports say that the surgery was successful and that Tešić was since a welcome guest in the girl's household.

The villagers, in disbelief at the vicious nature of the crime, describe late Tešić as a modest and kind-natured man.

In 2006, Daily Večerenje Novosti named Tešić as the recipient of their "most noble gesture of the year" campaign award.

What on earth?  Something has to have happened for him to have snapped like that.

About the only explanation I could think of for this is if the donor became too much of a welcomed guest in the families home, if ya know what I mean.  The girl is only 14 afterall.

Man kills daughter's kidney donor

From correspondents in Belgrade, Serbia

October 16, 2007 10:58pm
Article from: Agence France-Presse

A SERBIAN man murdered the donor of a kidney that saved the life of his own daughter in an apparent a fit of madness.

Milenko Burmazovic, a former police officer and father of six, cut the throat of the donor, Dragoslav Tesic, on a road between the western towns of Loznica and Valjevo on Monday, the daily Vecernje Novosti newspaper reported today.

Earlier in the day, Mr Burmazovic had shot dead several cows at his own farm in the village of Veliko Selo, near Loznica, some 120km west of the capital Belgrade.

Police detained him after finding him calmly smoking a cigarette near his victim.

Last year, Mr Tesic, 58, had contacted the Burmazovic family to offer his kidney to their then 14-year-old daughter after hearing about her health problems.

Hawkeye, as sad as it is, that was my thought, too. What else would cause a father to do that to the person that saved his child's life?

Exactly, I could think of no other "logical" reason myself.

As a parent of a kidney recipient, I guess I might go crazy like that if I found out that the donor had knowingly donated and kept secret something like IV drug use or exposure to some illness that would not show up at the time of evaluation. The other thing is what you've already mentioned. But why did he shoot his cows first??? Nothing explains that huh? Weird story.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read this.

Since this is farm town Serbia, maybe Burmazovic caught  Dragoslav engaging some of his livestock and in a fit of jealousy,
did away with the participants. :thumbdown;

At least the daughter was not harmed. Hopefully she won't have to return living with him, but do not know how their justice system works over there.
