- we only get 10 days per year PTO for vacation, illness, sick child, everything.

Wow-what a generous company.  I hope they make exceptions for things like-kidney transplants!

Nope, I'm taking my three months unpaid except for the work I'll be able to do at home, starting next week, hopefully. Thank goodness for savings!

Today Jenna joined Team SoCal and plans to participate in track and field.
Now the fund raising begins - she'll be selling See's Candy lollipops and raffle tickets to win a 2008 Corvette.
Looking around the room at the participants, there were maybe 2 people out of 100 that looked like what you would expect for an "athlete." Many have gone year after year, and also participate in the World Games (I think the next one is in Australia.) Golf, basketball, volleyball and track and field seemed to be popular. The main objective is to have fun and to honor the donor families as well.

I just got my packet in the mail the other day while I was gone... lots of information in there, and meetings to go to that I have no ride to, I guess I will be paying out of my own pocket to go, as I cant do the fun raisers and meetings and so forth to get points to get the scholarship. OH well.

Is there anyone who can do the fundraising for you? One guy told me he takes candy to work and everyone buys it, another sells raffle tickets so his wife can go. The funds raised help pay the travel costs as a scholarship, so that's why everyone participates. I hope you can work something out Angela.

Yes, I know they help pay the travel costs.. and you can't get the scholarship without getting all your required points, which you can only get by attending meetings, and doing funraisers and so forth. I have yet to read all my packet, but I will do that today and then probably email my leader here and ask alot of questions on how I can do these things.

I am ecstatic....

I got a call from the transplant games people, and they were calling to register me... I let the lady know that since I just got my transplant in Jan 2007 I did not have time to be able to do anything to get points to earn a scholarship and without the scholarship I wouldn't be able to go because I wouldn't be able to afford it....

She then told me that because I just got my transplant I was exempt from having to earn points and that ALL my travel costs were PAID and my hotel room was PAID, the ONLY thing *I* have to pay for, is my food.  :bandance; :2thumbsup; :yahoo;

I am thrilled!!! So I am registered for the games, and all the events and my events I am competing in (bowing singles and doubles).

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
