Before I launch into my story, I thought I'd ask -- are there people on this line who do or have done PD?  Or do I need to go somewhere else?

This site is for anyone affected by ESRD.

I'm pre dialysis and they let me hang around on a limited basis. (Just kidding) You are more than welcome here. Let it all hang out Jeanne.

PD is the dialysis of choice for many people in this website.  Just have a look around and you will see.  Hope to hear more of you.  You haven't really introduced yourself to us as yet.  That is a nice French name - Jeanne (I hope you pronounce it the French way).

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

 :thx
How great to get online and find all these people just saying Welcome and hello!
I'll have to see if I can figure out how to get a picture of myself up.  I am not a technological marvel.  By way of introduction, the other day I had a little steroid shot in my arthritic foot and felt so good I was able to parallel park my car.  This was not quite a first, but the first time I had a cellphone with a camera.  So of course I took a pix, even though by that time the back car was gone, so you couldn't see what a feat it had been.
My story:  I started CAPD last December with GFR of 15, stable for over a year then (and now for another year).  My diagnosis is, kidney failure caused by a succession of serious infections.
They had me on too much volume, apparently.  I developed very bad GERD, had to have bigtime meds for it, and then an abdominal hernia.  The idiot doctor let me go with it, and it ruptured.  This makes having a baby look like a pleasant walk in the park. . . Since I still had kidney function, I could be empty while I healed after the emergency surgery.
I changed to a younger doctor who understands that I had a very bad experience and need to make my own decisions.  I am still not back on dialysis.  I flush the cath once a week.  I am not energetic (am 65), but in very good spirits.
The doctors want me to go on CCPD, but I wonder how much I would gain from it.  Can anyone point me to any studies on that?

Wow Jeanne, you sure have gone through your share of downs havent you,  here is the link i gave you earlier, there you will find alot of info on both CAPD and CCPD,  the best thing to do is to click on the link and when you are there, find the search box up towards the top of the page and type in CCPD or cycler, that should bring up alot of posts regarding CCPD,  if your having trouble, please dont hesitate to give a holler, we will be more than happy to help you find anything it is that you need  :2thumbsup;  Good Luck to ya  :cuddle;
