I know there are lots of recipients here who can share their experience. Here's some info for you as a donor:

Tips for preparing for and recovering from surgery, written by a living donor: go to--> http://www.livingdonorsonline.org/SurgeryTips.html

"TAKE MY KIDNEY" is a woman's journal as she navigated the process of being a donor. It's a great site and gives a good picture of what it's like to become a living donor (warts and all) -->http://takemykidney.blogspot.com/

Great news.  Take house shoes and a couple of change of clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste.  Best of luck!

Donnab, :bandance;
  Take your own pillow. Hospital pillows suck. Hope everything goes well for you. I don't know how I would deal with the anticipation of waiting. Len's happen so fast didn't have advance notice to worry. Take care for the next couple of weeks. Look forward to hearing your story.

Take your own pillow. Hospital pillows suck.

This is probably the best piece of advice I have heard yet. Since I have been admitted to the hospital over 100 times in my life, and have had stays over 4-6 times lasting longer than 30 day periods, I *always* bring my own pillow... and a few other personal things the hospital either doesn't provide or doesn't provide good one's of. I never thought to actually state it. :)

Good job!  :thumbup;

My husband gave me a hand held fan (from The Sharper Image or Brookstone).  It is great to have when you have the post-op sweats   ;) !
