Well the big day is almost here (September 25th).....Any suggestions on what to prepare at home before the transplant?.....My brother and I live together and will be recovering together at home  .....looking forward to all that quality time together  |

I know there are lots of recipients here who can share their experience. Donnab,  Take your own pillow. Hospital pillows suck. Hope everything goes well for you. I don't know how I would deal with the anticipation of waiting. Take your own pillow. Hospital pillows suck. This is probably the best piece of advice I have heard yet. Since I have been admitted to the hospital over 100 times in my life, and have had stays over 4-6 times lasting longer than 30 day periods, I *always* bring my own pillow... and a few other personal things the hospital either doesn't provide or doesn't provide good one's of. I never thought to actually state it.  Good job!  |

My husband gave me a hand held fan (from The Sharper Image or Brookstone). It is great to have when you have the post-op sweats  ! |

Thanks for all the suggestions.....the "take my kidney" blog is absoutely awesome!.......tells all that a donor has/needs to do and then some......thanks for the link....it has been very helpful and informative.......9 more days!.....excited/nervous/anxious!!!!!

Approved for second transplant in May 2009
Sister-in-law approved as donor in Dec 2009
