Hi, I am the new girl! I live in West Palm Beach and am 37 year old married female. I have had CKD since I was a little girl. I have managed to prolong dialysis and transplantation for decades. I have always planned to "opt out" and have never wanted to go on dialysis or have a transplant. I love my husband to much too let go now so I am entering the world of dialysis much to my chagrin. I am scheduled to have my PD catheter put in in October and am looking forwad to getting input and support from you guys. Let me know what I am in for and what's next. I am sooooo dreading starting dialysis, but love that you guys are here. One other thing, in addition to CKD (type - RTA type 4) I have Addison's Disease, Hypothyroidism, Gout (in my whole body - went undiagnosed for a decade!! small towns I guess) and a couple other PIA (pain in the *ss) conditions. Anyways, that's my intro. Love to hear from you. Lulu

Hi LuLu to the IHD Family! Several of us on the site are on PD. You've come to the right place. You'll find lots of helpful info here, lots of support and new friends. It seems overwhelming at first but becomes routine with time. EDITED: Fixed icon error - Goofynina/Admin.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

Hi Lulu (that was my nickname when I was little) - Good to see you here. It always amazes me the wealth of knowledge here and the depth of caring from the members on IHD. I hope you get to know some of us and it makes the transition to dialysis a little easier! Welcome! okarol/moderator

Welcome to our community. As you have found out, this is just the place to be if you are facing the renal challenge, or if you are connected to anyone facing the renal challenge. There is so much happening here. And apart from all the information, the support is fantastic. We have become a real family. We were just waiting for you to join!
I just love the flower you chose as your avatar. That happens to be the favourite colour of both my daughter and myself.

Thanks Bajanne, That pic is special to me. I took it in the Bahamas on a trip with my hubby. I loved the flower sooo much. After we returned home, I came home one day to find a big potted plant of that flower. Then we moved up north and the first thing we saw at the new house was a hedges of the beautiful flowers!! Needled to say I have kind of fallen in love with them. The plants are called Mexican Poppies and they are full of those purple flowers.
