It's 103 here in Pasadena (39C) and it's taking a lot to keep our house cool (I don't want to think about the utility bill.) We have the curtains drawn, lights off, air conditioning blasting (it ran all night too) and it's a comfortable 79 in the house. Yesterday it was hotter, I think. Over the mountains north of us are giant thunder clouds, but it's unlikely they will bring us any rain. I am taking the kids to the pool. All you Californians out there - stay cool!  8)

I hear ya Okarol, it is the same over here too,  we got the thunder and the lightning (and even some rain) on Wednesday (early Thursday)  It lasted almost all night, crazy huh?  The humidity here has been horrible too.   :urcrazy;  Even though there is a good breeze, it doesnt help much.  But i still believe this summer has been one of the "coolest" summers we've had in a long time, i remember last year we reached 116 here, i dont think we've been past 110 at all this year  :bow;

It's 107 in my part of California.  Air has been on all day, but not doing a bit of good.

We have had a terribly hot summer here in N.C.  August was the hottest month ever for Raleigh. Days of 100+ heat, no rain and we are on water restrictions. Grass is burnt, plants are dying---fun, fun, fun.  It is only 89 today and we are thrilled, but tomorrow it goes back into the mid to high 90's for the rest of the week.  I am ready for fall. I want to open my windows and feel a cool breeze.   I don't want to open my electric bill---there goes my slot machine money!!!! :rofl;   Stay cool everyone.

I was typing the first message I posted in this thread when {POOF!!} all the electricity went off!
They worked on it and fixed the transformer on the pole, so our neighborhood just got power returned. I hope it stays on!
The guy across the street is having a big party for the Cal-Tennessee game, he was in a bit of a panic and offered to pay the utility company worked a bonus if he got it on before the game began! He got his wish. Now I am going to take a nap.

Hot out here in Inland Empire.  Between 108 and 110 all week. The kids at school do not want to run the mile in this heat. I can't blame them. P.E. teachers try to keep them inside the gym all week out of the heat. I would not do their jobs on a bet!  I just pull the kids out of the heat as quick as possible.  Luckily I have great air conditioning in my classroom.

We are blasting the air here.  It helps and we are pretty much staying home out of the heat.

OMG, that is brutal to make them run in this heat, here, our schools have rules that if its over a certain degree the kids stay inside, and that is one rule i agree with.  When i had the Day Care, my kids didnt go out passed 11:am.  I made that rule when i sent them out to play and i seen their happy little faces turn red and sweat dripping right after we got outside, i said, no way, so we went inside and played more games or closed all the shades and watched a movie.  I miss those days...  :-\  :'(

My kids got sent home early last week b/c all the schools closed early due to the schools being hotter inside than outside. It was very hot out and the schools don't have ACs so it was burning up inside.. glad they did that and the kids don't have to suffer.
