Two anniversaries to celebrate together each year. I am so happy for Amanda. Thanks, Rose, for posting the good news. I know she will not be happy about missing the wedding but there is no better reason!! I think the girl's family would be glad to know that the kidney is going to such a wonderful person from such a grateful family.

Amanda is doing fine but still struggling as the Kidney isn't working 100% yet.. They found when they did a transplant that she had a bladder infection so is on a range of drugs.. She is still very down and in pain.. Hopfully she will feel better soon.. The doctors are hoping the Kidney will start to work soon so please please keep the prayers coming...
Also I can now officially say I'm a married woman and can I tell you how hard yesterday was for me to go through this journey without my sister there.. As happy as I was to be married and for Amanda to get a chance at life was still so hard for me.. I had an emptiness all day.. I wasn't going to go through the day without seeing my sister so after the church Diego and I showed up for her to see us she was SO happy to see us and all I could do was cry..Hopfully she is home soon so we can keep our fights going.
Thank you everyone for your support and please keep us in your prayers xo

Am leaving today for my Honeymoon so thought I would give you an updated before I go. Doctors have found out that the organ donor more thank likely was carrying a virus and believe its Hep C, if this is the case it would have been contracted to Amanda. A liver Doctor and Hep doctors will go in today. Amanda is very angry at the moment and wishes she didn't take the Kidney. We wont know for sure for another 6-8 weeks if she has contracted this they will then let us know where we stand and what options we have as a renal transplant patient with Hep..
I will post more when I get to New York and let you know more. Thank you for all your well wishes I read all your Messages to Amanda this morning and she was so happy to hear them all. xo

Rose - I hope you have a great honeymoon and can relax after all the emotions the past few days.
I have heard of this happening before - 2 recipients received kidneys and it was later determined that the donor had HEP C. One recipient opted to have the kidney removed and went back on the list, the other recipient kept the kidney and had not gotten HEP C a year later. I will try to find the article. Please give Amanda my love.
