I have another appointment with the foot dr. at the wound clinic Weds..
I dread these appointments as he always takes tweezers, clips, scissors or
whatever and pulls off old skin off of my toes and heel.  It is so painful
and starts a new more painful round of days for 3-4 days. Then when it
starts to improve, it's time for another appointment.  I wish there was an
easier, less painful way.  :(

I feel for you OB but it's all in the name of improvement. I know that really doesn't help but I too hope that you will get to the point when the pain starts to go away.  :grouphug;

Oh honey, I wish there was a better way. Do you see any improvement yet?  I sure hope so, after all that pain you've gone through! :grouphug;

I do take a pain pill before I go and as soon as I get out the door.
I wish there was a numbing cream or something he could use.
I made it through but am really sore yesterday and today.
Strange how you have to go through more pain and almost get worse to get better.
Everytime tho there is a little more pink skin showing.  That is the good thing.
That brand new pink skin sure is tender for a while.
The nurse really scared me as she said to the dr. "Next time you will be really
able to clean it up won't you?"  I just cringed.  makes me feel like anxiety attack
just to think about.
The wound clinic is such a busy place.  I feel sorry for all those people going there
who have wounds.  I never had any idea what they had to go through before this.

Oh my. You would THINK there would be a numbing cream they could use. That was so tactless of that nurse to say that, in front of you no less. Next time you're behind her, stick your tongue out at her!!!! It's childish, but it sure does feel good!!!!  Honey, I am so pleased you
ARE seeing progress!! It's slow, but it IS progress!! Yay!!!! :clap; :clap;

OB i know when my daughter (5) goes in they ask her if she wants the magic lotion it turns her skin white and then taking her blood is not so painful. I don't know what it is called since she no longer wants it since she says she's a big girl now, but you should ask about it. :grouphug;

I really feel stressed about my foot appt. this wk.
I'm thinking about moving it up a week.
Maybe skin will be looser by then and not so painful
to take off.  I just dread this.

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #10 on: July 30, 2007, 02:51:49 PM »

I'm sorry!  Is there any way you can take the edge off?  Perhaps a few sips of wine?

Rob is the same way whenever he has a foot issue and see's his Dr. he knows the pain it will bring.  His stomach is usually a mess that day.  Unfortunately with a small part of his feet, mainly the big toes, he can't feel them due to neuropathy.  This is worse because he can bang it, not know and it could turn to osteomylitis (he has had it twice already in his right big toe).

So, try to make this positive.  It sucks that you will be hurting, but be glad you can feel it!   :2thumbsup;

Can you take something before going? Wine would help ( :wine;), but maybe some extra strength pain killer?You're going today, right? Let us know how it came out! :grouphug;

Last eve. I went to a restaurant with some friends to eat and during the night
I became so ill.  I don't know if I got bad food, the heat got to me, or I started
a new pill yesterday. It replaces phoslos called Renogol and I got it in the mail
yesterday and took 2 last night and wonder if that made me ill.  Anyway I still
don't feel well and moved appt. up for a week.  Maybe a flu bug that is going
around.  Not eating, just have some liquids so far.

I got through the appt.
I don't hurt as bad tonight as I usually do after appt.
He scraped my heel and toes.  He said on the toes as long
as he scrapes and their is new tissue it's good but if he hits
bone then the rest of my toes I will lose from there.  Today so far
he got new tissue.  I'm praying it continues that way.  He said he
will give it more time to heal.  Thankful for that.
The heel he said has no choice. My body HAS GOT TO HEAL it!!!!
So please keep praying.  I don't even want to lose any of my toes,
tho I am so thankful I still have my foot.
I appreciate you all so much.
