Life is great!

« on: May 29, 2007, 03:19:50 PM »

Hi everyone,

I have received this email from my vascular surgeon.

"Sorry to hear of your difficulties and the blocked graft again. As a little aside to the graft, this was a relatively new type of graft recently marketed and supposedly with better properties for access. It was being used at many centres in Sydney (and elsewhere around the world). There have now apparently been quite a few reports of this graft blocking (from units all round Australia) and so people are now steering away from using it. This information was not available at the time of either of your operations."

I am having my graft redone again on Friday so I will find out which graft they have been using so you can all steer clear of it.  This is my third shot at it in as many months and I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through it as often.  Check with your surgeon.  If they suggest a new type of graft tell them you would prefer to stay with the tried and tested.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

:urcrazy;  Wow Cindy. Is that meant to be an apology?  Were you told before the surgery that they were going to use a new graft? It sounds like he is just trying to cover his BUTT     >:(

I'm with Wattle, I'd be wondering why I wasn't told they were going to use a newer, more experimental type of graft.   >:(

Put the letter in the file for the lawyer. He just admitted wrongdoing.  Great!
