Has anyone had the idea of obtaining, or have actually obtained a full sized machine (Fresenius, Baxter, etc.) for home use, and a NxStage machine just for travel? I'm sure insurance would not pay for a second machine or supplies for it, but it seems like a nice idea if the second machine and supplies could be purchased. It would allow you to benefit from the advantages of both machines. Just a thought.

I didn't think there was any advantage the big machines had over the NxStage?   ???

The full sized machines have some features that the NxStage doesn't have (or so I've heard), such as UF profiling (which I use during every treatment), sodium variation, automatic blood pressure monitor, and some have heparin pumps.

Maybe if you traveled a lot, but to pull out a machine once every month and then travel and find out it doesn't work would make me nuts.  I guess I would have trust issues.

The Baxter machine is pretty small and can easily be taken when traveling, I guess its the solution bags that make it bad?
