Calcified vessels

What does that mean exactly?  Joe's podiatrist told him he has some, by looking at xrays of his feet.  Is that a diabetes or kidney complication?  What can you do to keep it from getting worse or spreading?

I have Calcified vessels in my feet, read "Doctor! Where!" It's under Dialysis Doctors. Unfortunately the Doctors have told me there is nothing they can do. .  But I find keeping my feet warm seems to help.  My toes only ever seem to hurt at winter time.  You need to get a scan to find out how far the veins are calcified. Mine are calcified half way up each foot. The scan listens for a pulse, and they start at the top of the leg, down to the toes.  They also took my BP on my big toe!

I am going for an Ultra-sound scan on my legs to see if the vessels have gone any worse.  Two of my toes are very painful. So on the 2nd March after dialysis, I have to go for the scan.  I am on Hydromorphone 1.3mg when needed up to four a day, Plus Tramadol 2x1 tabs a day 100mg. For the pain. Only use the Hydromorphone one hour before I go for Hemo.

Are calc. vessels completely blocked, or is it the outer wall that's hardened?

In my case they are fully blocked, Its the small veins that go into my toes. The scan is to see if the calc, as gone further up my legs. Then they can do a angeogram to try to widen  the veins, but the veins in my toes are to small.

A lot of renal words which we take for granted are not on Spell Check, Hemo, Haemodialysis, keele, Dializer, CAPD just some examples.   As it is I happened I missed out the - in    an-geogram In English it is spelt Angeogram, like Haemo. It get very confusing sometimes,

Thanks, I'll be in Thursday and Friday for sure.  They have me scheduled to dialyze on my regular 2:00 shift on Saturday.  That should be fun!

I know how you feel, I was in over 1 month, Being taken down to the unit when I felt terrible 3 x a week.

Went for dialysis on Tuesday, The Doctors kept me in Hospital, Just got out today.  They wanted to sort out my pain killer. My foot on my left leg is very sore, Its due to Calcified vessels.  I have a angiogram booked for Wednesday, was told I will have to stop in over night. Home after Dialysis Thursday morning.  That ultra sound scan did not sound right.  The arteries at the top of my leg are very thin.  But the veins below my knee are probably not treatable.  So I will just have to hope this angiogram shows something different.  Not really in the mood for writing on the board just now. These pain killer are making me so sleepy and grumpy.  " I'll  Be Back"
