That's another fine TARDIS you got me into Stanley

Hospital appointment this morning, was to be followed by lunch in a local pie and mash shop, followed by shopping. However the pie and mash shop was near my home, not the hospital, and on the way back I realised that the positioning of the bus stops in Croydon meant that it made better sense logistic wise to do most of the shopping before lunch. But this made lunch later than I had planned for, and while in the Supermarket I began to feel the first signs that my blood sugar was getting low.

I thought about it and decided that I could hold off until lunch. A bit of a risk because pie and mash does not have any simple (fast acting) sugars. Plenty of slow acting complex carbohydrates, but they would take a while to work.

But I was convinced I could wait.

Then I walked into the baking section and saw several racks of assorted donuts. I looked wistfully at the jam (jelly) donuts, I used to love those, but filled with high sugar jam (jelly) and sprinkled with a layer of fine sugar, they were something a diabetic has to give up.

As I passed the donuts I thought "You know, I don't think it is a good idea to wait until lunch to correct my rapidly dropping blood sugar level. I think I need to buy something in this supermarket that is high in sugar and eat it as soon as I have paid for it. Now what have they got? Ooooh look, a rack of jam (jelly) donuts, they are high in sugar. I guess I'd better buy myself one of those."

Just for health reasons, you understand.

 ;)

Whoever said "God does not make mistakes" has obviously never seen the complete bog up he made of my kidneys!

I've done just that same thing.

Only by the time I get to check out I have only an empty bag.

The check out lady looks at me funny, I tell her I couldn't wait.  She just smiles and rings it up as if this happens every day.
