 Hello all,
I'm Miranda and I've been on at home PD since 04/2017 so yes- I'm a newbie. Unfortunately not new to medical stuff since I am a nurse. Only took one year from first being Dx with CKD- egfr of 25 at the time of dx to end up on dialysis. Had a biopsy done to find out the issue was interstitial nephritis with the only traceable cause being long term use of NSAIDS. No I don't have dm or htn just in case you're wondering. So yes, dialysis sucks but I am so grateful it is available to keep me alive until I can lose enough weight to be put on transplant list. Thank you for listening. This was kinda long.

Welcome I'm glad you found the site. I've always been appreciate of dialysis but right before my transplant I was starting to get a bit tiered of the wait.

Transplant July 2017 from out of state deceased donor, waited three weeks the creatine to fall into expected range, dialysis December 2013 - July 2017.

Well on dialysis I traveled a lot and posted about international trips in the Dialysis: Traveling Tips and Stories section.

Welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you joined us.   Ask anything you want.  We tell our truth.  I just saw on the news that pigs have been gene spliced to be organ donors.  In about 2 years.  Did you see that?

WELCOME - Rerun, Admin   :welcomesign;

One bit of good news - once you make the list, your wait time will be backdated to your first day of dialysis.

Thanks all :) I'm glad I found this place as well. I haven't been doing dialysis long but since I really don't have any sort of support gong thru this I'm glad I've found my people.... at least some that know how tiring this gets. Some days it's difficult to even set up my machine because I'm mentally drained from trying to remain a "productive member of society" while doing everything..... Some days are just overwhelming. But I gotta keep on pushing...... :flower;

Sometimes this whole ESRD thing makes me feel like I am stuck in a 50's horror movie instead of Village of the Damned it's the Disease of the Damned.  That being said the renal diet has dropped me from 330 pounds to 280 in 4 years.  Plus I have met people who I would never would of known.  Just don't obsess it is what it is.  Why you got here is not as important as how you accept your new reality.  My self arrived her by having every staff infection known to man as a child.  So welcome to this community I hope your time is short and you are transplanted asap cause it's nice to see people graduate off dialysis.

Hi, Miranda!   :welcomesign;  So glad you are here!  I hope you can learn from us and that we can learn from you!  Having a background in medicine can make the whole dialysis experience even more scary.  Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing!  And any diet tips would be welcome, for sure!
