Wife rec'd a mailer from Sanofi that has a discount coupon offer for Lantus insulin.
Get it for a $10 co-pay per month for 12 months.
Go to saveonlantnus.com
or call toll free 844 2331-1677
Wife's Dr has switched her to Toujo (However it is spelt) so I thought I'd let others know as this may help save someone on costs.

Does your wife have commercial insurance or Medicare Part D? I have patients looking for help, but assistance programs for injectable insulin are few and far between. Occasionally I will find one, but often times not.

Wife had Aetna/Blue Cross until the end of March. Whe was sorta forced to retire from the School with her eyes becoming so bad she is unable to drive/work safely.
She has had Medicare Part A Since she elected to take SS at age 65 a couple of years a
ge but because working for the School and had that Insurance she deferred Part B. Now we had to visit the SS Office and complete the form to have Part B start effective April 1. And enrolled with a Medigap Plan. Co-pays both before and after are almost identical, however, now we will be having to deal with that 'Donut Hole'. Insulin is stupid expensive. Insurance companies get stuck, HARD, by the drug companies.
With her current $35 co-pay I doubt if she is eligible for assistance, but I should check to be sure.
I get my insulin from the VA. They take very good care of me, have since 75 when I got out with my disability.

I am glad you both can get affordable insulin. You would think with how long insulin has been around now that they would lower the price.

As it was explained to me.........
The drug company has managed to 'tweek' the formula, this allowed them to renew, or extend the patent. As the patent nears it's expiration date they again made another 'tweek' and again get another renewal/extension.
Thus there are no generics allowed.
They have also come out with all these 'other' insulin's. Wife's Dr has her using two of the newer ones, plus the Humalog '200', which is supposedly more concentrated. It is, and I find she only needs about half to two-thirds what she used to use. So long as it is the same cost it doesn't really mamke much difference which she uses. As long as I know and dial in the correct dose.
