Hello,
Does anyone find that dialysis makes them ravenously hungry?
I always feel I want to eat after dialysis,
even though I have had sufficient food during the day.
Does that happen to anyone else ?
Many thanks from Kristina. :grouphug;

Sorry Kris, I've never experienced that. Do you eat during D too?

I have always been hungry after dialysis. I think it has to d with protein that I lose on the machine.  I am very unhappy until I eat.

Many thanks for your kind replies Cassandra, OlManRivah, kitkatz, iolaire, Bungarian and Michael Murphy,
it is interesting, that so many of us who are dialysing, have a similar desire to want to eat after dialysis-treatment.
It looks as though dialysis itself might be causing this.
I don't have any good answers to stop this feeling of wanting to eat after dialysis, but I am working on it...
All I am doing at the present time, to avoid too many calories,
is to stave off the bangs of hunger by eating an apple or a bit of carrot and such like.
Many thanks again for all your kind replies, it helps a lot to understand better
Best wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;

My hubby noticed that when he was on D , if he ate as soon as he got home, his BP would take a huge dive.  So he started to wait at least 1 hr, that helped a lot.  Wondering if anyone else noticed this ?

That is why my husband never eats during dialysis; he says as food starts to digest, it lowers blood pressure. He eats a good 2 hours prior or shortly afterwards with no problems.

Many thanks nursey66, justagirl2325 and Primetimer for your kind thoughts.
I haven't noticed a low BP after having a snack during my dialysis-treatment,
but I shall keep an eye on it and many thanks for mentioning it.
Best wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;

Hello Whamo,
I am very sorry for your experiences
and I do hope your doctors find the answer soon...
... In my case it was connected to my medication
and as soon as a change of medication took place,
the feeling of being so very hungry subsided...
Many thanks again from Kristina. :grouphug;
