Hello fellow mostly No-Pee-ers! Much thanks to goofynina for recognizing my registration!

I'm a private person, so I do not want to give too many personal details. I'm a 28, soon to be 29 year old dude that's been on in-center hemodialysis for 5+ years. I'm currently contemplating home hemo (if I can just convince my family that it really isn't that difficult) or possibly even PD. I feel as though I need a break from having to go to a clinic, especially after they banned food. :( They at least let me have sugar-less drinks though.

1987 summer (age 9), Renal biopsy confirms kidney disease (Alport Syndrome).
2001 January (age 22), Arterio-venous fistula put in left forearm.
2002 March (age 23), Started in-center hemodialysis (12 years!).
2014 April (age 35), Now training for self home hemodialysis with NxStage.

Good to see you here, have a really good think about home hemo, it will be the best decision you will make in my opinion when it comes to doing dialysis. If you have to do this thing, and you are capable of doing it in the privacy of you own home, go for it!

Anyway hope to see you around the forum, or maybe come and see us for a chat in the chatroom.

Uninterrupted in-center (self-care) hemodialysis since 1982 -- 34 YEARS on March 3, 2016 !!

No transplant.  Not yet, anyway.  Only decided to be listed on 11/9/06. Inactive at the moment.  ;)
I make films.

Just the facts: 70.0 kgs. (about 154 lbs.)
Treatment: Tue-Thur-Sat   5.5 hours, 2x/wk, 6 hours, 1x/wk
Dialysate flow (Qd)=600;  Blood pump speed(Qb)=315
Fresenius Optiflux-180 filter--without reuse
Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.

Glad you joined our family. You will fit right in here because we are all here for one reason or the other regarding dialysis or renal disease.

Take your time and look around the site and familiarize yourself a little and post often.

There is plenty of reading material here.

Banning the food! How cruel!  I would have a fit all over my clinic if they did that to me!  I eat lunch at 10:30 in the monring and do not get a break until I am on dialysis at three.  Anyway, welcome to the site.  We have a lot of information here.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I really like this site compared to other online dialysis support groups I've seen. Other sites have a really morose, morbid feel to them, and seem as if tact is more important than veracity.

 :welcomesign; Cecil.  That's my brother's name too!!  Hubby was in center hemo for 6 years and started home hemo nocturnal in Oct. o6 and loves it ( as much as you can love dialysis).  far better than having to travel to a center.  Feel free to set me a private message if you want info or just want to chat about it.

I apologize, I have not been here for a long, long time. Since I started school, I hadn't been around the social networks online that much. I think I'll be paying a little bit more attention to them from now on.

Oh, and before I confuse anyone else, my name isn't Cecil ... my handle here is just derived the name from the person that discovered a certain type of renal disease. That person's name is the name of the disease ... Cecil is his first name (but not the name used to identify the disease). Bonus points to anyone that can figure out his last name. :)
