Cuff on acess line

Ivedone pd for year and half and with all the little occasional tugs on line my first cuff has come thru to the outside world so to speak. My nurse seems to think this cuff outside is responsible for acess infection I have and sent me to surgeon to have the cuff scraped off the line. Well surgeon said no he didn't think that would help and he wants to splice an piece together a new cuff and the line would come out of a different spot on my stomach. So actually he is just splicing and piecing so as not to have to replace the whole line. Anyone had this done. Anyone had a problem with cuff coming out and what did u do. There is another cuff holding it in place further down so it is was a two cuff line.
