i got out of the hospitol the day before mothers day
which i had a bactral infection
that i get every year

but any how they gave me
rifampin  to take

and i notice that my right knee was hurting yeaterday
and today i noticed my knee was swollen
it hurts but i can walk on it
and i was looking
on webmd website
for the side effects
and one said joint/pain or swollen
i called the doctor that was on call
and she has been a freaken doc for over 2oyrs
but yet not familiar with this drug..... geeze

my question is
could this be a re-occurrence of my gout for they took me off
the meds last year
or is this the side effect of the meds

the 3 times ive had a gout flair up, two were in my left big toe, and one in my knee. it was localized pain, not the whole leg.

WOW! You guys are RIGHT! I did not know that you can get gout in the knees (and ankles) but I looked it up and lo-n-behold, you can! I swear, I learn something new on this site every day! Hope you and goth lady (gothiclovemonkey) feel better soon, gout sounds very agonizing and painful and we all have enough pain as it is!

Husband had ESRD with Type I Diabetes -Insulin Dependent.
I was his care-partner for home hemodialysis using Nxstage December 2013-July 2016.
He went back to doing in-center July 2016.
After more than 150 days of being hospitalized with complications from Diabetes, my beloved husband's heart stopped and he passed away 06-08-21. He was only 63.

I have seen gout an ANY extremity joint . It can effect just 1 joint or multiple joints. The most common is the big toe but it can go to the arms/hands, and to the kness or ankles or anywhere on the feet.  I once saw a huge gouty lump or tophus on an elbow.
