Hi All...

Today, I had to phone the Department of Social Protection this morning, and forfeit my Carers Allowance payment... This payment stops being payable if the person being cared for is in a hospital or Nursing Home for thirteen weeks... Mum is in hospital for thirteen weeks today, so I had to make the call....

Besides the fact that my income has dropped by a third, and the household income is down by more than 60% (Most of Mum's pension goes for her care after thirteen weeks), it's the feeling of losing my caring status that hits harder... Didn't help when a genius said to me 'Well, you're now free of that burden!'... What I didn't say to him wasn't worth saying, and what I did tell him to do is not repeatable on a family forum!....

Had a meeting with the Social Worker today... We're doing the paperwork for her transfer to a nursing home... I HATE this!... Mum is heartbroken, and I can't do anything about it!...

Life's a b***h sometimes, and right now, she has puppies!....

Love to all...

Darth....

Times it seems the wind is no longer at me back,
i'm at the bottom of every hill, no top in sight,
straight paths are now all twisted,
loved one is going away, to an unwelcoming elsewhere.
Dislike when as a talker, words fail to say what needs saying,
Yet, from some where, the strength to bear up will eventually arrive.
Till then and after, my prayers be with you

Be Well

"Wabi-sabi nurtures the authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect."

Don't ever give up hope, expect a miracle, pray as if you were going to die the next moment in time, but live life as if you were going to live forever."

As long as your dear mum is alive, you will be a carer.   :cuddle;

You are still loved Carolyn. And even tho your Mum is sad about this development in her life she knows you love her and will always care.

I know this is a blow, even more emotional than financial. I'm glad you still have your mum, though. Many hugs dear Darth.

Darth you will always be a carer for your mum. I am sorry your mum has to go in a home and you know she will hate it . It is one of those things, we all care for our loved ones when they are ill, but we can only do so much. Is the nursing home very far from you? Lots of hugs to you and your mum
