Hello. I am new & very happy to be here. I was diagnosed with FSGS in 2004 & started PD at home on 2/1/14. I am 32 and have two children. I have a ton of questions and am very excited to hopefully get some answers from other people who have been through this.

Hello Shayron and welcome to IHD...

I remember the relief I felt when I found IHD because I had the feeling I could share and learn form other ESRF'lers...
... that was a little different from learning from doctors... because doctors study about ESRF but they don't experience it like patients do...
... and studying with people who actually experienced ESRF themselves is a totally different experience.... and fi=gives t=lots of inspiration to study and learn... and survive....

Im 32 aswell and have 2 kids too (boy aged 6 and a half and girl who will be 3 in july). I had kidney disease all my life and my only kidney crashed just after the birth of my daughter. I was very fortunate to receive a kidney from my dad 9 months later.

People on the site have always been helpful and comforting to me so am sure u will find the same xx

1982 - born with one imperfect kidney and no bladder, parents told i would not survive
1984 - urostomy op
1990 - bladder built out of colon
2007 - birth of son, gfr fall from 3O to 26
July2011 - birth of prem daughter, gfr 17%
August2011 - gfr drop to 10%
29th May2012 - RECEIVED KIDNEY 4/6 match from my wonderful dad !

While I believe I  have a fair grasp on what dialysis involves, was pleased to find some tidbits that were not on my radar.

So am quite sure you'll be glad to have found this site and .  :welcomesign;
