Must have an old batch of the cartridge with the heparin line as I nearly had an exploding saline bag, when
i failed to detach the drain libe from the bag and all the drain fluid went into the saline bag.  I thought that they had rectified that problem with the big blue clamp which I why I think that these must be old. At least I noticed before I had a bath (or maybe I should say a shower)!

I never had any heparin line cartridges with the big blue clamp.  We never forgot to attach the drain while doing nocturnal, but did forget 2 or 3 times with short daily.  The saline bag never exploded, but sure looked close!

March 2007 - Brother diagnosed with ESRD, started dialysis 3 days later
April 2007 - Myself and sister also diagnosed with Senior-Loken Syndrome (Juvenile Nephronophthisis and Retintis Pigmentosa)

Since then, I've tried PD three times unsuccessfully, done In-Center hemo, NxStage short daily, Nocturnal NxStage, and had two transplants.  Currently doing NxStage short daily while waiting for a third transplant.

Married Sept. 2011 to my wonderful husband, James, who jumped into NxStage training only 51 days after our wedding!

The blue clamp was either not closed or it was not locked over the drain line directly so it still pushed fluid around the clamp.
Yesterday we had a leak in the drain line outlet which flooded the sak basin below. It stopped treatment at that point with almost 10 liters to go.
WHAT I LEARNED YESTERDAY WAS YOU CAN USE SOLUTION BAGS TO FINISH TREATMENT IF THE PUREFLOW FAILS OR HAS A LEAK LIKE WE DID. tHE TECH ON THE PHONE TALKED ME THROUGH ATTACHING A 5 LITER SOLUTION BAG AND RUNNING OFF THAT BY DISCONNECTING THE FUREFLOW. i THEN RAN A SECOND 5 LITER BAG TO GET THE 10 LITERS TO FINISH. iT WORKED WELL. NICE TO KNOW YOU CAN SWITCH OVER IN AN EMERGENCY.
