Has anyone used this device on their cycler?  My nephrologist wants me to have at least 7 exchanges and in order to do it, they have to use this cassette and more solution.  Evidently no one has ever heard of, much less used, this before in my Metro Area.  I was wondering if anyone else has used it and has any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Fresenius has 5 bag hookups counting the blue one to be used for medication.  1 red, 3 whites and the blue.  I am referring to the colors of the clamps on each tube coming from the cassette.

I don't know if baxter offers other cassettes, but my cassette has 5 prongs and I only do 3 exchanges a night. There is a connection for your drain line/bag, 1 for the heater line, 2 on a split line for 2 extra bags, 1 for a last bag option, and the last one is where you hook up. Assuming you were doing 7 exchanges of 2500mL each, you would probably need 3 6L bags and a possible last bag option if you need a daily dwell.

This cassette also has the drain line and the patient line.   The red is the heater bag, the white are for solutions (I only use two of them) and as I stated above the blue is for medication.  In my logical mind, if the need is there for a 5th bag, why couldn't be used for that.  But, what do _I_ know?

Yeah, the blue line is for medications, for a specific type of solution for your last fill (such as extraneal), or for your last fill for a day dwell. In theory, if you did 7 exchanges and no daily dwell you would only need the red line and the 2 white lines with 6L bags (7x2500 + difference for flushing) and if you needed a day dwell you would use the blue line.

But there are 3 white lines......I clamp off the blue and 1 white because I use 3 bags per night.

Ah, my bad. Read that wrong, I thought I read 2. Long day yesterday.

Also, I checked my baxter cassettes last night. They do indeed say 4-prong. Guess the drain line and the line you connect to yourself do not count lol.

Yes we use the baxter 4 prong.
 1x 2.27 Green bag 5000
 2x 1.36 yellow bags 5000
and an extraneal 2000 as last fill.
My husband does 6 x 1hour cycles. takes about 7 and a half hours.

I have received my order and met with my nurse to discuss how to proceed.  What I got isn't a cassette, but something called a 5-prong manifold.  Basically, "the octopus" (as my nurse calls it) it used to expand the 4-prong cassette.  It connects to one of the middle white prongs and allows additional bags to be attached.  When I implement the new treatment, I will connect a green to the red line, a green and two yellows to the various white lines (the octopus), and extraneal to the blue line.  This will allow me to do 7 exchanges over 10 hours.

Hopefully all will go well when I try it this weekend.

If I have to add any more bags, you might be right.
