I don't know of any government programs. Is she your caretaker? In some states they pay for her to be your caretaker. Also have you applied for assistance? I was in a similar situation a while back, we were having really bad financial issues but my wife "makes too much" for us to get any assistance, which is a joke really. But if your wife is layed off it seems you would qualify for some assistance? I wish I had better advice. I've heard of people working from home selling stuff on eBay. Some people make a decent living doing that. I don't know how much work she's capable of doing but there are creative legal ways to make extra money here and there.

You can go to convergys and apply. They hire reps who work at home for dish network, amazon, AT&T. They start 9.00-10.00 hour plus benefits. It's a good company to work for!

That's not an easy job.  I worked for Convergys for 3 months, back in 2002, when they were doing a lot of Microsoft tech and customer service.  I loved the job, hated the people, and I just walked out one day after I couldn't find a phone that worked.

i worked in other call centres over the years, before I burned out completely and quit, but none were quite as bad.  Pay was awesome, though.  With shift premiums, I was making $11.50CAN an hour for an 8 hour shift, and on Sundays, they'd shut the phones down 2 hours early, so you'd get paid for 2 hours to play games
