Hi All,

I am Kitkatz older sister and wanted to post an update.

She is not doing very well right now.  She is having bad issues with low blood pressure during dialysis.  She was sent to a hospital on Friday from dialysis due to the blood pressure.  And, thank God, she wasn't sent back to her regular hospital but to an out of service hospital.  This hospital has her in the coronary care center.  They put in a central line today and will be doing more dialysis tomorrow.  Once they have her BP stabilized, they may send her back to her regular hospital/care home, but she is in a good place for the next day or so. They are doing some cultures to see if she has an infection.

The biggest issue now is her altered mental state.  It is really bad.  I don't want to describe it for fear when she gets well, she'll read it and come hunting me down.

Please pray for her and send her good thoughts.

I think anyone's mental stated would be altered if they had gone through what KK has been through.

Thanks very much for the update.  We are all eager for the latest news.

She must be sick if her mental state is off. I hope they take good care of her.

Thanks for the replies.  We are praying and thinking very good thoughts.  It is nice to know she has a great community like this pulling (pushing) her.

I'm taking some vacation time/'work at home' time to help her husband and to be with her more often.  Thankfully my work was very understanding.

We really appreciate the updates. I know Victor is exhausted and it's great that you can help. I keep praying that healing happens and everything else falls into place.

 :flower; UPDATE!  :flower;

Katherine was moved over to an in-network Kaiser hospital last night and placed in a "step down" unit where they could keep a close eye on her.

Victor spoke with one of the doctors last night and said the following in an email to the family early early this morning:

"Talked to the 4th floor doctor who feels that what she may be suffering is a normal reaction from the surgery drug that put her to sleep during the operation of Jul. 15th. It may take months for that drug to work its way out of the cells in her body. So her disability may be fairly long term, indeed the drug will cause hallucinations and other bad side effects such as her personality disorder. She may return back to normal and then again she may not ever fully recover.

Dialysis is hard on the body and organs and so she may now be suffering some internal damage besides the infection caused by the knotted / perforated intestines in addition to cumulative effect of nearly 15 years with end stage of renal failure. He is recommending that we have a serious talk with the social / case worker ( whoever that person is ) person to person and not let them do it by phone to get the best care possible. To do some PR of our own before choosing the next care facility and really look at it much deeper than the basic walk through that Marilyn and I had."

From all of that, Christy and I surmised that the family is going to have to find a "long term" care facility that is trained to handle some of the more "interesting" cases.

He was also advised that if they can not improve her BP (the top number had dropped from the 80's to the 70's during or after the transfer), they would have to move her back to ICU, where KK has been so much this last month we should be getting frequent flier miles!  *sigh*

Sorry I couldn't stop by and post something more "happy".  Please keep praying for her - we need all the positive thoughts we can get!

PS - Hey Mod!  Can you close the other post for us?  Don't need a lot of double posting.  ;-)  Thanks!

Thanks, Darth.  *hugglez*

We are all basket cases right about now but knowing that you guys at IHD are behind us and thinking good thoughts for her really helps.  We keep reminding her that you guys are pulling for her and want her back ASAP.  It seems to cheer her up.  I passes on your last message (the one that said she better get better soon because you had a lot more jabs and insults for her) and she smiled and chuckled a bit.  ;-)

My prayers continue for Kit and for all the family.  This is such a sad situation.  But, she is a fighter and doesn't give up.  And we will stand beside her and help her fight.   Thanks for keeping us in the loop.   :cuddle;

Maybe because she's lost so much weight so quickly, they 're having a hard time recalibrating her dry weight, and that's why her blood pressure is so low.I sure hope that's all it is.

Thanks Anne....

Kitz and I trade insults constantly... I think we'd get worried if one of us was nice to the other... Be TOTALLY out of character!...

Tell her I want to kill her for that bloody squeaky elephant... Hooligan decided a good time to play was 3.40am... I'm going to shove that toy up Kitz's.... Left nostril!....

Love and best wishes to you all....

This is all so worrying, but we're hopeful that she recovers quickly.

I can't even imagine what the family is going through.

All I know is that I want her to get better so she can start spreading her sass again. I miss it!
