Ed went out early afternoon on Wednesday and hasn't been seen since.  He is mostly an indoors cat but he goes to visit his friend Mimi through their hole in the fence quite often.  He's always back by 4.30 demanding his dinner after which he stays in.

I've rung the RSPCA and the pound, and letter-boxed and checked all the neighbours backyards, and yesterday I checked all the gutters in the area.  We're in the middle of the coldest spell of the year and he's not a kitten any more.  I am exhausted, and his house-mate Yuki spends her days sitting at the big windows looking for him.  She is definitely missing him.

I discovered that there is not one ginger tom living across the road, but two - and both are unspeyed.  Unfortunately, one of them is called Eddie, and whenever I call my Ed, Eddie comes rushing over and tries to befriend me.

I am hoping he will turn up after having had a mystery holiday, but I fear the worst.

doggone it!!  They can worry us so much..  We lived in the mts for 20 yrs and though we tried our best to keep our cats in, they would get out sometimes too but come in just as yours did, ready for their din din.  Occasionally, one wouldnt come in and i'd stay up calling and calling and clappin my hands to chase away any creepin coyotes.  I'd cry and fret and 3 days later, in came kitty, looken a little unhappy about his ordeal, but fine none the less.  He lived to be almost 20 and is burried here with us.  Cats are amazing, I do hope the best for yours.   :pray;

Is it possible he is locked in someone's garage? That happened on a holiday weekend once, our neighbor was gone 3 days.
My husband's name is Ed. I hope you find your baby.  :cuddle;

I've checked all the sheds I could.  Except for the strange Russian couple three doors up - very elderly and quite odd.  I'd be surprised if he had gone that far.

I fear he might have been in a fight with the ginger tom across the road, and is hiding out under the house next door.  We can't see him there though.

Come home Ed if you're reading this.  Come and dig up my cabbages.

I hope he comes home, safe and sound.  I've gone through that a few times too.

One of the times I moved home with my Reddevil, someone let him outside before i had a chance to take him out on his leash and let him smell everything, so he'd know where home was, and he disappeared.  I was really upset, because I'd broken up with a boyfriend, which was why I moved home, and Red was kind of like our child.  It felt like I'd lost the boyfriend and the baby at the same time.  I walked around the neighborhood for a week calling him, but he never came.  At the time, my parents would go out for breakfast every Sunday morning, and that week was no exception.  I remember sitting in the lazyboy chair and hearing the car pull into the driveway.  Mom walked into the living room, and I wasn't paying much attention, until she plunked the cat into my knee.  She said that they drove around the neighborhood before coming back to the house, and Mom just happened to see him near some trees a couple of blocks away from the house.  This cat, to his dying day, hated riding in cars, but Mom said that when she called his name, he ran over and jumped in.  With the way he reacted to the car, and the way he was nuzzling me (he had his front paws on each of my shoulders, like he was trying to give me a hug) that he was probably lost, and couldn't figure out how to get home.

I'd say to keep looking, and to look a little farther afield than he would normally go.  All it would do is for him to find the wrong person to follow, then he may get confused and not be sure of which way is home.  Red was no spring chicken either.  He was probably around 9 when this happened.  When he died, the vet estimated that he was around 12.  We had no idea of his age, because he'd been a stray

I've just heard that his range was wider than I expected, so I've done another round of leafletting using the word REWARD quite prominently

Awww, Mary.

*huggles*

When Moggly-Moo went missing last year I was frantic.  A couple of mornings I got up at about 4am and went for a longish walk in the hopes that if he were stuck somewhere I'd have more chance of hearing him.  I didn't realise the pesky birds were so noisy at that time of day. I knocked on doors and posted leaflets through letterboxes, plus put some leaflets up in shops. My story is sad because we never did find the little bugger (thirteen months and nine days now) but I still expect him to come trotting down the street and just walk in the house as though nothing happened.

The problem with male cats is that even those who have had their manlihood removed have a territory that can encompass up to at least a mile radius, if not more (I read that somewhere and it may not be true, but I know it is a far bigger area than we think although it is dependent on other factors such as whether your home is rural or urban and how many other cats are in the neighbourhood, etc.)

I really hope your Ed comes home soon.  Hopefully he's just having an adventure and he'll tire of it.  Is he microchipped?

More *huggles* ...

Glorious, glorious day!  Ed has returned.

On the morning of the seventh day - there he was sitting on the verandah.  I thought I was just imagining it.  He is not letting on where he was.  He is a little slimmer, but I think someone must have adopted him.  Came in and stuffed himself and has spent most of the day sleeping.

Now I have to retrieve all the posters I put up.

I know how you feel Mary. My Tommy disappeared 3 weeks ago. I still call for him at least once a day. I too fear the worst since I've seen several foxes in our area. I hope maybe someone took him in but I know in my heart he's gone.

Galvo - How can I speak to him severely - I'm too busy cuddling him.  But I have rung someone to arrange for the installation of a cat run.

Just saw this MaryD, glad you got your boy back.

Is he microchipped?

We had our cat go missing once. She slipped out the door and took off. Three days later a neighbor down the street came up to me asking if we were missing a cat. Went to retreive her and she was so dirty I could not tell. She wouldn't go into their house due to dogs and just stayed on their porch. Took her to the vet to make sure she was our cat before informing everyone we have her back.

She is now afraid to go outside.
