How about growing your own kidney?

I wish we were living 20 to 50 years in the future because by they will have mastered stem cell therapy to the point you can grow your own kidney with YOUR DNA so you won't even need rejection meds!

Here is an article on something a bit different. An implantable bio artificial kidney. They say trials could start in a few years!

I know they will eventually have DNA compatible kidneys that are grown from stem cells....that would be the best!

I always thought the research with using pig kidneys was more hopeful. There were two sugars on the pig kidney causing problems and they had gotten rid of one. Then I never heard anything else. It's easy to grow pigs.

God, I hope they don't go in that direction. The stem cell route is the best since they already know they WILL be able to grow organs from stem cells. The only question is WHEN?

Why only outside the USA? Why not here too?

It's complicated. They can do it in the US and probably are. But things overseas are often cheaper and less regulated. You have more leeway in your clinical studies.

There has also been talk in America about using stem cell therapy to grow your own organs.
