Hello,
I'm new to this site, 66 years old, a survivor of five heart attacks, and someone who passed his first kidney stone at age six, and who has been hoping to avoid this, dialysis, for many years. I'm a retired ad exec and college professor, currently a newspaper columnist who also writes poetry, novels, memoirs and blogs. Because of my chronic heart disease, I've been through much of this before, but there are aspects of dialysis that confound me, to say the least. I haven't read any of the other posts yet, because I'm conserving my resources. But I think that this is absolutely the perspectgive I need to make better sense of all this stuff. My column and blog are called "Geezerville, A Wry Take On Aging," so that's my story and I'll stick with it.

Hello Geezerville,

Welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you found us, there is a lot of information here and it will take awhile to digest everything, but that is why we are here.

IHD is the best source on the web for dialysis related information because we are a patient driven and owned website. Basically you will read true life experiences instead of the Doctor or clinics point of view.

Our members will be brutally honest and open when needed, they will tell you their experiences and what worked for them. You can take the information with you and make an informed decision regarding your treatment.

All this free. If you would like to help support this site you could purchase a premium membership here: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=42.0   remember this is optional.

Whatever you decide you are now part of the IHD family and we are happy to have you here.

Hello Geezerville, and welcome to IHD.  An Advertising Executive?  That is what I wanted to be and never really made it.  I still watch commercials and critique them.  I ended up working for the government.....better benefits!   :D

A good place to start is http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=34.0 with the site rules and regulations.  One of the first things to do is add your gender so we know wheather to call you sir or mame.  You will find out how to do that at the Site Rules location also.

Thank you for joining our site.  I hope you find this educational as well as entertaining.
