Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

yep... it's what I say when I see someone going by on a motorbike, wearing a helmet (because it's law) but no other protection... There goes a prospective organ donor...

After a hard fight to not start I started dialysis 9/13
started on PD
hoping for home hemo starting to build a fistula 1/14
cause PKD diagnosed age 14

Wife to Ed (who started dialysis 1/12 and got his kidney 10/13)
Mother to Gehlan 18, Alison 16, Jonathan 12, and Evalynn 7. All still at home.

My doc told me that if I wanted to get on list and get a kidney sooner, I should move to a state without a helmet law.

I don't believe it. I live in one of those states. Ed has a 6+ year estimated wait for O. I have a 6 year wait for A. only have 1 year under our belt...

We don't have a helmet law here in Colorado either, but my wait is still 5+ years for a type O.

here's one for ya

Ever had so much fluid taken off that your pants fit looser?

-Born in !975 with blockage on bladder
-Doctors do not realize this fact until 8 days after I'm born
-Perform surgery to pull ureters out my back so I can pee (called a eurethrarostomy)
-At 3 years of age the doctors fix the bladder and return my anatomy to normal
-23 years old I have pain in my chest/cannot breath, rushed to hospital, find that my kidneys have failed
-March 1999 - first dialysis in hospital
-January 2003   Living donor transplant from cousin
-April 2009  kidney fails  back on dialysis - present 4x per week
-January 2013 - started nocturnal dialysis 3x week for 6 hours per treatment
-April 2013 - Nocturnal shift is discontinued, treatments reduced to 5 hrs apiece
July 3 2016 Received 2nd transplant from cadaver doner
Two years post transplant doing fantastic so far
