Well, actually, circumstances made the decision.   Two weeks ago, I gave my daughter the money and told her to let the guy buy the Mac for her.  We went up to the college and when she went he was away sick.  Last week she still wasn't able to get in touch with him, so she is back to my original plan - buy a PC laptop.  I will be doing that this week.  A HP, I think.

If you can go with a Toshiba, I've heard about problems with HP and Dell. In fact Epoman told me to get a toshiba if I was going to get a laptop.

I haven't seen Toshiba on sale here and it would take too long to order one and get it here - it is spring break next week, so her semester is almost finished.   But she needs the laptop to bring the A's that I expect from her.

a mac may be easier to use, but the business world runs on microsoft! and over the years i've run across very few businesses willing to teach you. and once upon a when i used to work as a placement counselor. it isn't just school you need to think about.

Well, the die is cast.  I went with a Lenovo (IBM).  The price was right. My daughter loves it and so far it is working out well.  She was calling  it Lennie (female), but decided it needed a more ghetto name.  So the name is Lenisha. Thanks for all your caring input.
