I do not know if my kids are a good gauge. I am extremely lucky with my kids. They are VERY good kids. My oldest son is now 20. He is at the top of his class at college. He got in trouble once. It was in middle school and he had detention for chewing gum. My youngest son is 14. He is at the age where he is pushing the limits and the biggest issue we have is bed time. I bumped it up 30 minutes but he has to be in bed at the same time. I just let him watch TV for the extra 30 minutes. He is an honors student and is entering into the same Distinguished Scholars program my daughter was in. Now...my daughter. She is 18. She is in her 1st year at college but went in as a sophomore because of all the college classes she took in high school. Out of the 3, she is my biggest helper. When she saw me cooking or cleaning she would jump right in and help me without me asking. It practically takes an act of Congress to get my boys to do the 1 job they have: taking out the garbage.
Yes, I am very proud of how they do in school. What I am really proud of is the fact that they can put other peoples wants and needs before their own. Both my oldest son and daughter donate blood. My oldest is also listed as a bone marrow donor. He has offered to give me one of his kidneys but that is another thread all together. I guess my answer to this question would be neither are easy. If you want your kids to be, "easy" you need to put the time and effort into raising them. I have always been a very hands on dad. They have always known that no matter what I am there for them.

It's hard to say. I have one child (My son) that has a lot of special needs at school. He is high-functioning Autistic. Being young and older has had its unique challenges. I can't say if him being younger/older is easier. I can say though, the temper tantrums are not what they used to be, so that is a good thing.
One of my twins has a mild form of epilepsy and likely has inherited my kidney disease.
Having twins has its joys and challenges too.

lainie, Both of my kids are grown, my daughter is 37, my son is 23, (yeah, 14 years apart, it was almost like having 2 only children!) my daughter was definitely more mellow than my son. he gave ADHD whole new meaning!
He's still an adrenalin junkie, cave diving is his latest thing. I call him my proof God has a sense of humor.

I don't have any kids of my own but my cousin is 3 and i have helped raise her, if fact I just had her yesterday and took her swimming. My nephew is 8 months and then my sister that lives with me is 20, so i don't think that she counts as a kid anymore.

My son will be 18 months old in 2 days!! (Carson)
I have been around children my whole life and I always found boys to be easier than girls (especially when they become teenagers!!! OMG!)
Grateful that I have a boy, but sometimes I wish I could have another...I was an only child and sometimes I wish that Carson could have a sibling to grow up with... I always wanted one.

My two daughters are 25 and 26. One lives at home. She picks me up from nocturnal dialysis Mondays and Wednesdays now so hubby can get some sleep. The other one lives in Oklahoma and works for a mortgage company.

HEllooO!
I have one son, aged 8! He is a handful!! He has some issues himself, due to prematurity (not to mention im not a good disciplinarian!) Im a single mother, ive been single pretty much all his life, until recently. (still not married YET but the man im with has stepped up into husband/father role) I have had help from my father though.
Im going to be very candid and say i never really wanted a child, infact for a long time i thought i didnt like kids... As it turns out, its not kids i dont like, its parents! lol (not all, but a lot of them!)
I could not love anyone more than i love my son, and i love my neice too (although shes the reason i realized its parents i dont like, not kids! because i love her to bits but she has begun to take the same route as her parents --- which is to say Oh god no help! save the babies!!!)
Children are a real pain in the backside, sometimes, but boy are they also rewarding and lovely to have around.
My son has been around a whole 8 years, and hes the sweetest kid, seems to be well liked, and his teachers tell me hes always ready and willing to help. Im very blessed. I feel bad that hes been down this health road with me, but i do believe its made him the sweetheart that he is.

but I will send prayers off throughout the day.
