I hate it when I purposefully stop to hold a door open for someone, step out of the way to let them pass, and then they do so without even looking at me, let alone saying "thanks" - like it was my duty to open and hold the door for them - not a mannerly thing.
But I still hold doors open for people, because most of the time it gets me a friendly smile and "thanks"
wonder if I'd keep doing it if nobody ever said thanks, just because that's how my mama taught me?

Galvo!  You nutter!  I've honked twice at posts tonight, and they were both by you!

God don't get me started!  I used to live in Slurry Hills in Sydney, where everybody was incredibly 'very', so so very 'very' darling that you could have sold their leftovers to some collector somewhere.  Probably some incredibly 'very' collector in Slurry Hills.  Anyway, what I hated (still hate about inner city Sydney) is that when you walk down the street, if someone bumps you (which happens pretty often, its crowded), half the time they don't even look around.  HELLO??? I feel like saying, Dont Mind Me I'm Not Hurt.

Here's my rant . . . .

Let me start by saying I have struggled with being over weight most of my life.  I started a running program at the beginning on the year.  It is called the "Couch to 5K" program.  It is designed to take people who are "couch potatoes" and turn them into runners.  At the end of 9 weeks, I should be able to run a 5K.  My goal is to do an 8K race to benefit organ donor awareness.     This is a big deal for me, as I have never been much of an athlete.

One day while on break at work, my co works and I were sitting at a table eating.  One lady who is super slim, was eating a yummy looking salad with shrimp.  This lady hardly ever eats at work, but she happened to be sitting with us that day.  I was eating a slice of cheese pizza, some fruit, and milk.  I was really craving pizza.  We have only had pizza once in our house since my husband started dialysis in October, and that was because some friends brought it over.

I commented to "Miss Slim" on her good looking shrimp salad that she had brought from home.  She told me that she loves salad and would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is she could.  Then, as she gestured towards my slice of pizza, she said that she never eats "that mess" that is served in the cafeteria.  I told her that I had gone running before work that morning.  (Silly me.  I thought she would say, "Good for you for sticking with your running program.  You deserve a treat".).  Instead, she said, "You are going to have to run again after eating that junk!"   

She has made other comments like "you are what you eat".  I have had yogurt at work, and she proceeded to tell me that yogurt has too much sugar.  I cannot win with this woman.     She also comments when she thinks someone uses too much catsoup or salad dressing.  It is getting to the point were I dread eating in front of her.

  He cracks me up too!  Razorhurts?  We call it Darlingithurts.  For those not from sydney, we are talking about two very trendy suburbs, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst.  Thing is they used to be crime central (prbably still are) and there's lots of prozzies on the street corners in Darlingithurts, so there's still a grubby side that makes these suburbs loveable. 

A bit like young galvinious really.  I'm well, Galvo, my love.  Head down bum up most days, getting terrible computer cramps and neck aches over this PhD.  But you know its a labour of love.
