Let's be honest --- dialysis isn't the only thing we "hate" or want to "rant" about,  so .........BRING IT ON !!!

Here's my pet peeve (of the day) ..... The apartment complex where I live has no assigned parking.  At all.  Some of these folks who live here must have four cars or something.  It is ridiculous and could be easily solved if they just appointed one parking spot per tenant (and a designated place for "extra" cars).  Really annoying.   There are handicapped spots available,  but haven't yet started dialysis and even though I've had some serious foot surgeries,  I don't think of myself as being handicapped and would rather leave those spots to folks who presently have a real need.

End rant.

Okay, I'll bite...

To continue on the parking rant, what is the deal with people who can't park in between the lines? Or, the ones who take a valuable end spot, then don't take advantage of its glory and park hugging the line next to the neighboring spot?  And what is the deal with when you're the first one to park, then you come out and some idiot has parked mere inches away from your car *on the driver's side*!!! How do they expect you to get in?  I really like my car and how it looks, and I do not like door dings. It seems like I am in the minority in this.

And yes, galvo, I agree that your complex needs to have assigned parking, one per tenant. That is ludricous! I live in a condo complex, and we all have 2 assigned spots. It is beyond aggravating when I come home and someone is in my spot. At least I have my second spot to park in, but it is still aggravating.

Somehow when they built the apt. complex I worked at, they built 190 units and only 170 parking spaces. Who was thinking when they did that???? Caused no end of problems.

Okay - here's my parking rant for today.

If you are walking through a parking lot, for God's sake, pay attention to your surroundings.  Do not wander all over the parking lot with complete disregard to the cars around you.  As much as we try not to run you over, we cannot read your mind as to where you may be going next.

Also, if you have small children, for God's sake hold their hands.  When I see people who let their kids run amok in a parking lot, I think "they must not want those kids very much longer".   ???

My rant for the day....

Dear Gram,

Good for you for figuring out email at your age.  I'm happy you decided to become internet savvy in your late 70's.  I know how much you enjoy staying in touch with your kids, grandkids, and many friends.
But please, STOP FORWARDING ME EVERY BIGOTED, RACIST PIECE OF CRAP YOUR CRAZY FRIENDS SEND YOU.  Just because I'm polite enough not to argue with my elders when they are too stubborn to realize the world has changed does not mean I actually agree with or appreciate any of this nonsense.  Here's a hint - not everything you read online is true!  Not every Muslim in the US is here to kill Christians.  Halal meat is not somehow poisonous to Christians just because a Muslim prepared it according to the Koran.  Not every Jew is trying to take over the world market.  Not every person on welfare does drugs.  Has it ever, just once, occurred to you that part of the benefit of keeping the church out of the government is that it also keeps the government out of the church? It's really best if they don't start giving orders to either side.  Given that White Anglo Saxon Protestants have ceased to be a majority in this country, now would be a good time to realize that, because I highly doubt you'd be any happier being ordered to say the rosary than you would be having to kneel to Mecca.  *sigh*

Love always,
beany

I finally lost it last week, and sent a cheerful note back asking who was sending her all the BS, with an explanation of why the statements in the last email weren't true.  I tried to word it as politely as possible, but apparently I've offended her, because she hasn't sent anything back.  I'd feel bad about offending her, but I'm really tired of being offended whenever I get another email from her.

To Karen - I am one of the people who can't reverse park between the lines. Sorry - I probably shouldn't have a licence! I try not to do it as I don't do it well and will park further away and walk to where I'm going.
Jbeany, I too have had to request 'please, no more forwards' but luckily it went okay for me!
My rant for the day....can't think of one. Do I lack passion?

Chook - I'm not talking about people who reverse park, I'm talking about the ones who just park head first! Especially when parking so close to the next car. Annoying!!!

My rant for the day is people who choose not to take the time to learn how to drive in the snow/ice. We are having winter here in Seattle this week. I keep hearing about people who "gun it" and end up in accidents. This latest story, on the news, was about someone backing out of their driveway, they "gunned it" and ended up in the driveway *across the street* and hit that person's parked car into their house! So, innocent neighbor gets damage to both their car and their attached garage, all because their stupid neighbor "gunned it" onto a slippery street! Also, to those who tailgate in these conditions - Seriously???

I'm no expert when it comes to driving in the snow, but I have managed to drive in it w/o hitting anything or ending up in a ditch. Drive slow, in low gear, keep your distance from others, downshift when approaching a stop, turn *into* the skid, and above all - TRY NOT TO PANIC!!!! /Rant over

Karen - nose in first I can manage!  :2thumbsup;
And I've found a rant about drivers too: lights on, everyone!!! Even on the best of sunny days, it's no extra trouble to drive with lights on. And WHY, on those dull, rainy days, are there 3 out of 4 cars without their lights on?! (I've counted!!) And I don't mean the parking lights, I mean headlights.
And when you turn the lights on, turn on your tolerance as well. Take time to be a considerate driver. I'm certain that if calmness and patience could replace haste and anger on the roads, our accident rate would drop drastically! Rant over! (Felt good!)

Beany, I enjoyed your rant to good old Gram. I, too, have people sending me all sorts of supposed-to-be- funny-(but isn't ) garbage. The headings are warning enough; I just delete them.

Re driving and parking - I have a disabled driver sticker and a battered old car. The world is my oyster.

We have a Police Officer that drives his patrol car home every night.  He parks SIDEWAYS so his car is pointing toward the exit, so he can "Expediate his departure when duty calls!!".  He takes up at least 4 or 5 parking spots in our apartment complex.  Who is going to tell the Cop to park correctly.  I know that some of the residents have called the Police Department, but it hasn't done any good.  They stick up for their own.  And the Resident Managers, they LOVE have a police officer in the midest of the neighboorhood, so they don't care where he parks his patrol car, as long as he parks it somewhere.

ME, i park over the white line, I get a letter in the mail!!!!!

Doctors SUCK !

Today's Rant ---- 2PM eye doctor's appointment.  Show up a bit early.  An hour later (from my appointment time,  NOT from when I arrived) ,  I'm  still sitting in the lobby. No one has done a thing ...... Tech finally calls me and I say (knowing the answer) ... "My appointment was an hour ago ....Am I seeing the doctor right now or are you planning to do a preliminary exam, put drops in my eye that I'll need to wait take effect, blah, blah, blah".

Tech says "Oh,  the doctor is behind schedule ...yea,  I'll be doing the drops and...."  ...........

I said,  "Well,  I can't wait any longer ...".  And I left.

Now .....what makes them think this is acceptable ??  (TO ME) My time is just as valuable as theirs.   Why do they think it's okay to overbook ?  And take "emergencies" instead of appointments ??  It's not my fault they don't know how to schedule ......and they shouldn't schedule an entire day of appointments if they're going to try to take "emergencies" too.

WTF ............. Did the tech really think I didn't *know* the doctor was behind schedule ??  Why not CALL patients before their apppointment and say "The doctor is running behind,  would you like to reschedule ?"

If I showed up late for the appointment,  I have no doubt I would hear about it or be told I have to reschedule.

I try to fit an appointment in during a "long lunch hour" (I'm in management,  so I can make up an extra hour staying late, etc) ...... but with travel time to and from an appointment, etc .....it is just ridiculous for any 'professionals' to think that someone can be kept waiting an hour doing NOTHING (if the tech had taken me in and done the prelim with the eye drops, etc) during that time .... I *might have* waited ... but, REALLY.

I don't get it ...........I'm sure the doctor could care less that he's lost a patient ........ apparently he has plenty.   So,  I'm off to find a new eye doctor.

End of rant.

Are there any honest people left?
I am working behind the counter in a small country town toy store.
Occasionly when I ring something up or give change I make an error. Sometimes it is obvious, say I ring up 4.99 instead of 24.99. Now the customer must know that I've erred to the tune of $20 but says nothing. Sometimes I know these people quite well - I would not describe them as dishonest.
I could not do that. I make up the difference from my own pocket as it's my mistake.
I'm saddened by how often it happens.
It's wrong!
End of rant.

one of my biggest pet peeves is people constantly texting and not paying attention to their surroundings.  If I had a dishonest bone in my body, I would target those texters as my prime victims for pickpocketing, as they wouldn't even notice until hours later due to the fact that they are busy texting.  And why do people insist on walking around aimlessly when they yak on their cell ?

And my biggest one is people who insist on texting/yakking on their phone while working out.

Haha!  Love this.  Back in the mid-noughties I used to receive daily emails from a very very VERY distant cousin whom I've never met (I 'met' him whilst tracing my family tree; we shared a 5x-greatgrandparent or something) and you could guarantee that nearly every single one would contain an offensive joke (usually against Muslims).  I got so annoyed that I emailed him back and told him the jokes very rude and offensive and could he stop putting them in the emails (he sent them to everybody on his family tree list).  He replied that they were funny and usually true (wtf?) and nobody else had complained so he'd continue to do it.  I told him he was a very bigotted old man, to remove me from the email list and then promptly blocked him.

 ;D

Last week I went to go for a wee at work and somebody (could have been a student or a member of staff as we share toilets) had done a massive (and very messy) number two.  And they hadn't flushed.  And they'd managed to get it on bits of the toilet that they had no right getting it on. I didn't use that toilet, but felt ever-so sorry for the cleaners.  I just don't understand it; by the age of 16 (it's a 16+ college) you should know how to use the toilet properly and how to flush it.  Would you leave your toilet in that sort of state at home?!  It makes me feel quite positively ill.

Sitting down on a toilet seat not realizing that it was wet. Grosses me out. Is it urine or just backsplash from the toilet flushing?

People talking on their cell phones when you are in their company, talking one on one with them and the conversation gets interrupted that they HAVE to answer their cell phone.

People not wiping their liscense plates off when it's snowing and leave them covered with snow whole driving.

Someone interrupting you when you are speaking.

People not making eye contact with you when you're speaking to them.

People trying to speak when food is in their mouth at the same time.

And people being late to arrive/show up at an appointment.

Today's rant will be book based (you can see from my new avatar, I'm a book fan ........... changed the old 'gay porn' buff Einstein (a/k/a Gerald Lively) avatar for bansix ..... HA !) .......

Anywhooooooo .......

I bought a book on Amazon because I liked the author,  only to find out I already had the book ........but this version I just bought was from the UK with a different title.  BOO !!  At least it was a cheap used one from the Amazon Marketplace.

And my second book rant is about myself.  I hate when I buy a hardcover book and don't read it quickly,  only for it to come out in paperback and I still haven't read it.  ARGH !!!

End rant.

MacCaffrey's Pern novels are dreadful for that.  I also hate it when you get excited seeing a new title, only to realize that it's just the first 2 or 3 in the series packaged together and renamed - i.e. Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.

Proudly waving my geek flag here with my book choices!
