HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so i just set up my PD machine, and started my initial drian. whats scaring me is that my fluid is orange in the tube, but more of a scarlet in the drain bag...i have had instances where it is pinkish, but this is bothing me, my regular PD nurse is on vacation, i have the number for the center director, but i really dont want to call her unsell i need to... my stomach has been cramping some today, but i dnt have a fever, and i dnt have any symptoms of peritonitis... i cant really tell with the fluid in the bag. im pretty sure its blood, but i dnt know why its this dark... help    
oh and my drain wasnt painful at all

I've never done PD, but I vote you call the number.  Why drive yourself crazy when there are people getting paid to be there to help?

Okay, that's understandable.  Hope someone has experienced something similar that can help you.

Lifting something heavier thanyou should canalso result in blood presence in the bag.

not on my period, not expecting it for at least another 2 weeks, i know that will turn mine pink, but this is red. i have no pain no fever no nausea or vomiting, but i am gonna seee what it looks like over night and if its still as dark im going to call the nurse that covering, least then it will be in the morning

I personally have never had that happen in my 4+ years on PD and I too can understand about not knowing or having met the nurse that would be on-call, but if you are concerned I would suggest that you give her a call. That's why they have after hour numbers for patients to call. I don't like calling the nurses I actually do know after hours, but if I was truly concerned about a situation with my dialysis I would call....just my 2 cents here. Good luck with everything. I hope it turns out to be nothing at all for you to be worried with in the future.

There was one time where I had some blood drain out.. it was bright red. I didn't see it until morning. The next session, my drainage was normal again. No idea what happened

I've had that happen and it turns out I was ovulating.  it was red in the drain bag but I am a heavy bleeder it happen two  days in a row and the third day it was gone.

1. Don't be silly. They gave you the number to call for a reason. Call it.

2. I've had this happen to me twice. The first time the color was like almost brown, like rust. The second time it was sort of orange and magenta, like a sunset. Both times it was just a few drops of blood in the bag. I felt fine, but they took cultures anyhow. No big deal. I suspect a capillary or two breaks sometimes  when my wife cracks my back.

ok so set up tonight ,and drain was clear as day, and the color it should be . the only thing different i did yesterday, was i returned to work.. i have been out with all my issue since july, then came back yesterday and worked a double, but i really wasnt lifting anything, im a server and i ddnt have anybig tables so i dnt know

Your a server?  There's your answer.  Doesnt take much to cause the bleeding. If your carrying a tray full of food, that could definitely cause this.

Had the same thing, turns out that it was from the iodine that in one the little sponges found in the transfer set caps.  It is the rusty liquid that keeps bacteria from getting into your pd line.

this waswnt thwe little bit of iodine, tht starts out... not this looked like a bag of blood, b ut doesnt really matter, it turned out to be nothing, did tell my actual nurses about it, and he told me exactly what i was thinking as long as there was no pain and all tht fun crap that it should be ok, it was just the one night but man did it scare me
