Hi , i'm Kickstart in my 40's, female and live in the U.K. I was diagnosed with kidney failure 7 yrs ago and have been doing CAPD for 2 yrs now. I cannot tell you how/why i got kidney failure as no -one has been able to tell me , i went from an active healthy person to someone who got up in the morning , noticed something not quite right (fluid on legs) and within a week was diagnosed with kidney failure, which was a shock to say the least!. I had not been ill or had any warning signs that anything was wrong. I came upon your site by way of introduction from a very good friend of mine "Knucklehead" who has also just joined. We met on a general forum and because of some posts we made, both came to realise we were in the same boat, since then he has become a loyal,strong shoulder for me to lean on and i support him if he needs it. I think the support you offer each other on this forum is wonderful. I may over time be asking plenty of questions, but hope at some time i will able to help with answers too. Thankyou for this site , it makes you feel less alone .... :2thumbsup;

I used to live in the UK!  I lived in Surrey for nearly 18 years.  I moved back to the US about 4 years ago; I haven't been back to England, but I really would love to.  There is a lot I miss about living there.

Did you get a diagnosis other than just "kidney failure"?

Welcome.  I hope this site gives you comfort.

Hi Ya Kickstart it is great to have you here at IHD.

As Knucklehead probably already told you, this is a great place for venting and discussing options anywhere from CKD to dialysis. There is an endless amount of information within this site.

Another one of our sites is  www.renalromance.com maybe we will see you there as well.

Besides the search feature on IHD you can also search at www.kidneyoogle.com when it pertains to renal issues.

I'll be looking forward to your posts.

Hi Kickstart and welcome to our site.  I ended up in emergency as well thinking I was just ill and my kidneys had failed.  Sudden reality check to say the least.  You will find this site informative and entertaining.
